This Beast-Tamer is a Little Strange

Chapter 85: Chapter 85: The Art of Negotiation

Kain was thinking about how much money the parts of an orange-grade spiritual creature would fetch him.

"1.2 million" The blacksmith offered.

Kain was internally shocked that it\'d be worth that much, but decided not to show it on his face. He didn\'t know how much this body should be worth, but he had a feeling the man in front of him was a sly fox and wouldn\'t immediately give him the max price he\'d be willing to offer.

"I won\'t accept lower than 3 million"

The blacksmith\'s face turned awkward. "The highest I can go is 2.5, it\'s already an incredibly high offer, and I probably won\'t even be able to expect much of a profit"

Kain stared him down, but his face looked sincere. "Deal" He held out his hand.

"Deal." And the exchange was sealed with a handshake.

"The name\'s Dorian Anvil. If you have any more materials of similar quality in the future, please come to me. I\'ll definitely give you a decent price."

Kain nodded before leaving the store with a wide grin.

When Kain was out of view, Dorian smirked.

Clearly, both of them walked away from the deal feeling like they\'d pulled one over the other.

Kain then headed to the school. He planned to sell the egg to the school\'s nursery. It\'d probably not be highest price he could fetch for it, but he already picked up a bargain from them with Princess, who not only helped Bridge pass his exam, but also played a huge role in Kain being able to get his second contract. Therefore, he wanted to pay it forward.

While he was there, he also wanted to give Mr. Evergreen the spiritual tea leaves he prepared for him.

Going towards the nursery Kain flagged down the breeder who had helped him previously, Merida. She seemed to pretty intensely value the commission. Also, she\'d allowed him to take the dead egg for free and still exchange for Princess.

She immediately ran over, thinking that he was a prospective customer, but slowed down when she realized it was just him and he didn\'t look like he wanted to make a purchase.

"Don\'t turn away! I came here to sell an egg… a very valuable egg!" He hurriedly called out when she looked like she wanted to turn away to find someone that would provide her with commission.

She paused her turn but her unimpressed eyes seemed to scream that she doubted he\'d provide anything of value.

Kain pulled out the egg from where he had it stored in a satchel.

"This is a Venom Spinner egg. Not only that, it\'s an egg laid by the orange-grade White Widow in the forest."

She stepped forward to examine the egg. Venom Spinners were a pretty rare species, and if everything he said was true then even if she didn\'t get a commission, she\'d be handsomely rewarded by the school.

She could pretty easily confirm that it was a Venom Spinner egg, but she wasn\'t sure if what he said about its parent was also true.

Seeing the doubt on her face, he continued, "I have the eyes and fangs from its mother. Also, you can probably confirm by now at the city gates that the White Widow spider is dead."

Kain took the remaining parts he had from the mother out and let her see. It\'s unlikely that someone who could obtain orange-grade materials would be trying to scam a public school, so she took Kain to the back office and completed the sale.

He obtained 500,000 CD. And that was due to its genealogy, otherwise it\'d have been at most 400,000 CD. He could have probably easily obtained a million from a purchaser outside of the school, but he had already known that when he resolved to sell it to the school as repayment for their care of him for the past 4 years.

He then headed to Mr. Evergreen. Although the school year had ended, the diligent teacher never took a break and was in attendance all year round. Kain knocked on his office door to see him revising lesson plans that he\'d probably already revised continuously for years.

"Kain! I\'m surprised to see you. How did your exams go?"

Kain grinned, "You are looking at a double Beast-taming and Planner major at Dark Moon College."

"Great! That\'s great. Out of all of my students, you were the one I was most confident in. Glad to see my instincts were correct"

"I also came to give you a gift to thank you for taking care of me the past year." Kain then took out the spiritual tea for increasing mental strength that he\'d had transferred to a decorative container with the description engraved on its side.

His teacher accepted it gratefully, surprised by the high value of the gift, but didn\'t try to refuse it.

Task completed, Kain was about to leave to avoid disturbing him while he worked.

"Wait!" Mr. Evergreen suddenly stood up and went to a painting on the wall. Removing the painting he revealed a hidden safe that he then unlocked.

Kain was curious but restrained himself from peaking inside.

Mr. Evergreen then pulled out a vibrant green…seed?

The moment it appeared the very air in the room seemed to be cleaner and Kain\'s mind was clearer.

Suddenly, Kain felt a response from his second star space. Eve conveyed that similar to her, that seed had the rare Life-attribute. And Kain felt the strongest emotion he\'d probably ever felt through the contract before… an overwhelmingly intense hunger.
