Chapter 368: Twenty-One

“Sect Master, let me try.” Just when the Fire Bat Sect Leader intended to touch and probe the horn, one of his Sect members moved forward, expressing willingness to test things out.

“Be careful.” The Fire Bat Sect Leader said in response.

“Yes,” Nodding, the Sect member took out a stick from his spatial pouch and gently brought it closer to the Haggon statue, noticing it begin to disintegrate immediately. The stick turned into dust and collapsed to the ground.

Only a small portion where he held the stick remained behind.

Hiss!

Everyone was stumped at the scene, wondering just what mysterious power had taken root here.

Just as they were worried about it, the Sect member took out another stick, trying to touch the Haggon statue once again, noticing it too get disintegrated. He subtly frowned at the result, thinking of something.

“It’s too dangerous. Let’s seal this place up and probe through it slowly, Lernes.” The Fire Bat Sect Leader said, unwilling to do anything reckless. After all, the one probing through the Haggon statue was his most prized disciple.

“It’s not dangerous, master.” His disciple, Lernes smiled, taking out another stick to repeat the action, noticing that it was disintegrated a tad slower this time, “This mysterious ability is weakening as we speak. So, we’ll soon be able to find out the truth.”

He quickly took out a bunch of sticks, causing them to disintegrate one after another, causing a lot of dust to collect on the ground.

He motioned at one of the Sect members to clean up the dust while he continued to do so, noticing the power of disintegration continued to weaken. Soon after, a half-disintegrated stick touched the Haggon Status.

Thud!

As to why he had so many sticks in his spatial storage, none knew. But in the current situation, it saved them a lot of effort as Lernes slowly grabbed hold of the pointed horn on the Haggon’s back, noticing that it resembled a lever of sorts, pulling it down to see a door’s outline be revealed on it.

And immediately after, a large slab came off from the Haggon’s back. Lernes hurriedly grabbed hold of the slab, noticing writings on its back.

There wasn’t anything else in the Haggon. It wasn’t a door, but a slab acting as the outer layer of its back. There wasn’t anything inside.

Lernes gazed at the writing on the slab, frowning as he read it, “To the one that sees this, hide somewhere and try your best to survive. I failed my Clan’s mission to protect this world.”

Lernes didn’t express anything and continued to read further, “I am Gahrat, the current generation keeper of the World Seal. The building you’re inside, the World Seal was something created tens of thousands of years ago to seal the Evil Spirits.”

“It was built through the efforts of the Haggon Race and the Spirit Race, both of which are on the verge of extinction now, with me being the last of the Spirit Race. Our only goal was to ensure the Evil Spirits remain sealed within the World Seal. And whenever they try to break out of the seal, we suppress them.”

“When I inherited the World Seal from my late father, I noticed that one of the Evil Spirits had escaped from the World Seal. She had come to the Gaider Realm. So, I arrived here in search of her. But, I failed to capture her, and hence, am leaving behind my will here.”

Lernes shuddered faintly, glancing at the murals as he read further, “Evil Spirits are cultivators that had fused with their Martial Spirits for mysterious reasons and invoke mindless craziness in their inherent nature. They are bloodthirsty beings that would slaughter everyone in their way, drink their blood, dine on their organs, and play with their bones. Abilities-wise, they are on par with Heaven Martial Spirit cultivators.”

“Heaven Martial Spirit cultivators?” The Fire Bat Sect Leader was alarmed.

Lernes had a heavy mood as he continued to read, “If that was all, they wouldn’t be that dangerous. Even Heaven Martial Spirit cultivators aren’t invincible. They run out of Origin Essence after battling for a while. But, Evil Spirits are different.”

“This…what the heck?” Even Lernes was stumped for words as he read the statement, “Evil Spirits are innately lucky. No matter what happens, things go in their favour. The slightest of disagreement between the cultivators pursuing an Evil Spirit might soon after result in them engaging in a life-and-death battle with one another, all while the Evil Spirit calmly watches from afar and kills the exhausted victor in the end.”

“But thankfully, the World Seal had completely negated their cultivation after being sealed for so long. So, they’ll have to cultivate from scratch once again. If you come across one of them, I pray you’re of a firm mind to not succumb to their schemes.”

“But, that’s only in terms of other Evil Spirits. If you ever come across Straxia, run on sight. She’s not someone you can ever handle.” Lernes read aloud the final sentence before his eyes shot towards the mural where the devilish figure of Straxia had been portrayed.

The mural showed her being bathed in blood, sporting maniacal chaos in her expression that caused the hearts of everyone to thump in response, feeling nervous. After all, if what was shown here was the truth, then such a terrifying being had been set free.

“Straxia, Soul Rendering Evil Spirit.” Lernes frowned, reading the detail engraved on the mural, muttering, “Heaven Martial Spirit, Lightning Lemur…”

He then gazed at the next mural, muttering upon gazing at the scene of a man punching through a horde of people like they were paper while displaying innocent laughter, “Earth Cracking Evil Spirit, Dwun. Heaven Martial Spirit, Sound Gauntlet. Destroyed nine Realms.”

He then gazed at the third mural that showed the figure of a teenager that was surrounded by sickly that was skin and bones, sporting decaying bodies, “World Decaying Evil Spirit, Velcorn. Heaven Martial Spirit, Putrid Crocodile. Destroyed seven Realms.”

Lernes then gazed around, frowning upon seeing that the faces of everyone else in the various murals had been destroyed by a variety of attacks, same for the description related to them.

He quickly took out sticks from his spatial bag, throwing them onto all the murals, noticing that only the sticks thrown toward the first three murals disintegrated. The sticks crashed into the rest of the murals.

“That mysterious power barely managed to protect information regarding the most three terrifying of the Evil Spirits…” Lernes concluded, counting the number of murals at the place, sighing at the frightening count he ended up at.
