Chapter 483 Cross a Hundred
Chapter 483 Cross a Hundred
"Guh!" Gulnar reeled from the punch to his face, grunting as ducked and clamped around his enemy, pulling him into the quagmire.
Of course, the quagmire wasn\'t even enough to fully trap Gulnar, not to mention his enemy as the both of them rolled into another location, with their bodies being in touch with six patches.
And shockingly, all of them had a moderate climate, ranging from mud ground to grassland. Gulnar was in disbelief as he was smacked in the face numerous times by his enemy, unable to understand just how his enemy was safe all the time.
Grunting in response, he suddenly evaded an attack, entering a nearby patch that his fingers flickered to turn into a moderate region as he did the same finger flick, rapidly changing the climate of the patch his enemy was at.
But, he was stupefied once again.
Normally, out of ten tries, a dangerous terrain arrived every six tries, a moderate terrain appeared three times, and a pleasant terrain like the grassland appeared once.
This was an approximate estimate based on what he had seen so far.
But now, when he tried to change the terrain for the patch with the Earth Compass Carburettor, it constantly varied from pleasant to moderate terrain and only after almost twenty tries did a dangerous terrain appear.
But, this terrain was just a poisonous swamp. And the moment it arrived, the Earth Compass Carburettor just rolled into a nearby patch, evading it successfully.
Gulnar fought the enemy while continuing to move through the patches. But, when he hit thirty metres, he reached his limit, making a mistake in a hurry when he dived into lava, causing his legs to melt.
At the same time, the Earth Compass Carburettor kicked him from the top, sending his figure reeling into the lava entirely, killing him.
"Gah!" Gulnar gasped for air as he noticed that he was at the original location before the path. A second later, he found himself within the stadium, gazing up to see a mysterious creature that was hovering in the air, unleashing strong winds underneath it. It was the Spydragon within which the Reality Marble was stored.
"Thirty." Compass Carburettor announced while gazing at Gulnar as an Elder noted down the name.
This Elder was in charge of the Green Centipede Clan\'s affairs to a certain extent and knew everyone in their Clan. And hence, he took the charge to jot down the scores that Compass Carburettor announced every time a Clansmen arrived outside.
He had already explained the specifics of the score, telling them that the higher the score, the higher the cultivator\'s talent.
This measure of talent didn\'t depend on their Martial Spirit, their wealth, etc. It was an overall estimate of their capability.
After all, it wasn\'t the strongest person that survived but the one that survived was the strongest.
And honestly, a lot of experts in the Gaider Realm had a lacking upper department, causing them to be manipulated by the simplest of lies. Such people would never be able to face a System Host, no matter how strong they were.
Even if the difference between them and a System Host were like heaven and earth, they still wouldn\'t be able to do anything to the System Host.
Even if one was weak, their drive to grow stronger, and the way they took advantage of things around them to become strong was what made them into the expert worthy of fighting a System Host.
And that was what Compass Carburettor was looking for.
He told the Elders that only those that obtained a score greater than a hundred were allowed entry into the Academy.
So, every time a Clansmen arrived and obtained a low score, the Elders couldn\'t help but curse in response. Moreover, depending on the score the Clansmen obtained in this test, the Elders decided on their future.
The reason Compass Carburettor designed this test was to verify the quality of the cultivators. He wanted to see how close they were to being a Main Character.
Who was the Main Character? Someone that defied all odds and still achieved greatness was called the Main Character.
So, even if someone had a Trash Martial Spirit, if they had the traits of the Main Character, then they would become strong and even kill opponents that were many times stronger.
In the path, countless variables existed that the cultivator must use to their advantage while facing someone who was innately more advantaged than them. As their opponent was luckier than them, then they would have to figure out the variables at play and try their best to grasp the inner workings of such variables and use them to turn tides on their opponent.
The Earth Compass Carburettor was a System Host, his past version. So, it allowed him to obtain a perfect grasp of the cultivators\' talents.
After all, if they were able to win against his Earth version, then they would be able to face and even defeat the Hatchling Systems.
So, a score of hundred was the minimum benchmark necessary to be qualified. At least, such people wouldn\'t die a dog\'s death before a System Host. Those below this score would practically play into the hands of the System Host and even act to the Host\'s advantage.
"Did I overestimate them?" Compass Carburettor muttered after some time, seeing that only three cultivators passed even though half the Clansmen had come out.
Upon hearing his words, the Green Centipede Clan Leader scowled, \'Dammit, this is embarrassing. Why are they performing so poorly?\'
"If the Elders are curious, you too can experience the test once it ends for everyone else." Compass Carburettor smiled.
"How did the other Clans fare?" The Green Centipede Clan Leader asked, feeling like he had swallowed a sour peach. At least, if the other Clans fared worse than his, then he would be able to endure this embarrassment.
"I\'ll release a list of everyone that scored above hundred by evening in the Academy." Compass Carburettor said as he continued to observe everything that happened within the Reality Marble, making those that crossed a hundred metres stand on one side while everyone else stood on the other.
The air was heavy as it seemed like illusions of grandeur had shattered for everyone on the other side.
