Chapter 65: Laosun District
’Everytime we see each other, it’s always so short like earlier’ Michael sighed in thought, and while walking through the street, the women he would pass by would always sends him flirtatious looks, but Michael just ignored them as she isn’t interested in any other women except Amanda.
’But I noticed that she was really flustered when she saw that it was me though’ Michael thought with a smile on his face, as he thought that those subtle actions of hers earlier were at least a good sign.
Because he at least knew that there’s some feelings that’s budding inside her heart...maybe.
And so Michael slowly made his way home on foot while holding biodegradable plastic bags that has a lifespan of only a year, and with it are full of goods that Michael bought from the Department Store earlier.
"I think I should get myself a car soon," Michael said as he thought that an hour walk to the department store from his apartment is a hassle.
Michael then started making some quick plans in his mind.
*****
More or less an hour later.
Michael finally arrived at his apartment, where he immediately started sorting out his groceries and where he put them neatly inside his small fridge.
"Okay, that’s about it" Michael said after putting all of goods inside his fridge.
Michael looked at the time and saw that it was already past midnight, and so he took a quick shower before going to bed.
Afternoon the next day.
Michael prepare to go out, and only planned to log into the game later in the evening.
Michael donned a black hooded jacket, track pants and a pair of running shoes, then he put a small but thick brown envelope inside a pocket in his jacket, full of cash, before leaving his apartment and making his way down the apartment building.
Michael hailed a taxi after waiting for a bit on the side of the road.
"Get me to Laosun District" Michael said to the taxi driver the moment he got in.
The driver didn’t immediately drive away, but looked at Michael through the rear view mirror and then the man said to him with a heavy tone.
"You do know that Laosun is crawling with lawless people, right?"
"I know, I’ll give you another hundred for the trouble" Michael replied, as he knew the concerns of the man is.
"Alright, but are you sure? You don’t look like a gangster at all" the man asked him once again.
"I know what I’m doing"
The man stared at him through the mirror, "Alright, it’s none of my business what you do there kid. If something happens...then I don’t know"
The man just shook his head and started the car, before making its way towards Laosun District.
While on the road.
"I don’t mean to pry, but why do you want to go there? I can feel that you’re not a gangster so I don’t know the reason why you’re going there"
"Ohh, you’re not going there to get some revenge, right? Well, if you do, then don’t do it or you won’t get out of there alive, even the police are reluctant to go in there"
The driver said, as he tried to change Michael’s mind of going there.
Michael just smiled and didn’t answer him, and seeing that Michael seems to doesn’t give a damn about it.
"Look, you sound like a good kid, so last chance. We can turn back now and I won’t charge you for the fare" the man offered him one more time, looking really concerned about Michael.
"It’s fine old man, I know what I’m doing" Michael smiled, as he didn’t expect the man to be so concerned about him, after all, they had just met today.
The man just sighed and replied, "Suit yourself kid"
Then a few minutes later, the cab finally arrived in front of the Laosun district.
Michael got out of the cab after paying the driver, and then looked at the scene in front of him.
Laosun District is a ghetto in Central City, and it’s the only ghetto in the city where most small time gang members and addicts hang out, very much unlike those members of War Angels and Black Skulls who at least has a job in big or small companies.
But this place also has another name.
’The Underworld’s Black Market’
It might look like a dilapidated place because of how messy the place is, and with many buildings abandoned, and where gangsters roam free, but those things are just cover ups or smoke screens to hide what’s really happening below.
"Well, goodluck kid!" the driver immediately drove away from there, while Michael just shook his head at the man’s behaviour.
Michael took off his hood for a bit, then immediately put a cap on his head and then covered his head again with his hood.
Then Michael started walking deeper inside the district, as numerous gazes of the gangsters hanging out on the side of the streets is directed towards him, with eyes full of curiosity, hostility and wariness.
But when Michael had just walked over for fifty meters inside, he immediately noticed a group of seven black and white people heading his way from the other side of the street, all of them bearing arrogance and hostility.
Michael smiled under his hood as he chuckled coldly at his group of people.
Then he noticed that the bald headed man in front of the group has an insignia on his arm in the form of a black tattoo and it was of a dual horned skull.
"Black Skull again, this people never really learns"
Michael raised his head towards them and grinned coldly under his hood.
