Chapter 215 Reign of Terror
Meanwhile.
"Quick, we need to catch up to him. I don’t want to make the same blunder as last time when we lost him"
"It’s not like it was our fault, the kid clearly disappeared like a bubble from out of nowhere"
From another corner of the neighborhood, two shadows could be seen boarding a Mercedez Benz car as it brimmed into life and made a beeline towards the same direction as Michael.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
Michael honked when he passed by the guards at the entrance, while Ozzy, who’s currently on night duty noticed that it was Michael in the car and gave him the two-finger salute.
Michael quickly drove through the road that’s almost devoid of cars, and his surroundings changed as he got nearer and nearer into the city center as the hassle and bustle of the city quickly greeted him even when it’s already late into the night, with couples, groups of people moving around, and taxis busy waiting for their next customer.
While driving on the road, Michael quickly noticed the familiar car that had been following him since a month ago.
’These people...can’t they at least change their car if they want to follow me?’
’Or are they deliberately doing it and doesn’t really care if I found about them? They are certainly a weird group of people’
Michael just shook his head and ignored the people trailing behind him from a safe distance where ordinary folks won’t notice their suspicious movements.
Meanwhile.
"Where is the kid going to this time? Doesn’t he know that its already quite late?" the bearded guy in a suit groaned as he carefully tailed Michael.
"Why do you care? We just need to follow him as instructed by the boss" an older man said to him from the seat beside him.
"What I can’t understand is why does someone like him is associated with those people?" the bearded guy said.
Hearing what he said, the older guy looking guy rolled his eyes and said, "Isn’t that the very reason why we’re here in the first place? We need to make sure that the young boss doesn’t get into trouble because of those people"
If Michael saw this man on the passenger seat, then he would be shocked to discover that the man was actually one of the bodyguards that his aunt had brought with them back in the day when they had visited them in their house.
"But are those people really dangerous sir? How come that they haven’t even noticed one of us during the span of time that we have been watching them" the driver seemed doubtful about the abilities of the people they were assigned to monitor.
"Hmmph!" scoffed the older looking man.
"Those people had certainly noticed us ages ago, they weren’t just making any movements against us because we had never tried to provoke any of them. Did you really think that those assigned to watch them would still be alive today if we ever had malicious intentions towards them?"
"Don’t underestimate them because they are not doing anything to us, else you can get yourself killed when it’s your turn to watch them" sneered the old man.
"I’ve worked with one of them before, remember the short eastern man with them? He goes by the name of Chakram, I’ve worked with him along with my team before when I was still with the army to a rescue a kidnapped scion from a huge family by an armed rebel group in a small island country called the Pearl of the Orient Seas"
"Do you know what happened during that time?"
His junior just shook his head as he has that face that looked like he can’t wait to hear more of it.
"He killed all of them, all thirty armed to the teeth rebels..in under two minutes. All of them died...by getting their necks slashed. The cut was so clean that it felt like a chef was the one who killed them"
Remembering the scene on his mind, the man’s voice couldn’t help but tremble and his hand that was holding his cigarette was trembling so hard that he has a hard time putting it back onto his lips.
And two seconds later, he finally did it and calmed down a bit after taking a huge puff and continued.
"And when we finally managed to catch up to him, we just saw him standing there, in the midst of those dead bodies littered along the ground in that forest without even a single bullet wound on his body"
"What’s truly scary about that...is that we heard gunfire and screams before we got there"
The man stopped and just continued smoking inside the car, but his companion who was driving next to him was slightly shaking from his story as he imagined the scene that the man experienced, especially when he realized the meaning behind the last sentence of his supervisor.
’Does that mean...those guys could dodge bullets!? Are they like monsters disguised as human beings? How the hell would a human even dodged a bullet!?’ he thought as he wiped the cold sweat that formed on his forehead.
"That’s why...you best remember not to provoke any of them, or else you wouldn’t even know how you died"
His junior just furiously nodded on his words and swore inside to never do anything outside of what was assigned to him, and that is to just monitor those monsters in human clothing.
"Kakaka, relax kid, those people wouldn’t do anything to you as long as you don’t provoke them" his boss slapped him on his shoulder with a laugh.
"But...but why haven’t the authorities arrested them yet if they were that dangerous?" his junior said.
"Look here Tom, the authorities wouldn’t dare to make a move on them," Tom’s supervisor said.
"Why?" asked Tom, as he was truly genuinely curious about it.
"Why you say? Because if they do, they would at least need to mobilize two squads of the special forces in the army, and if that happens and a bloody battle happens between the two sides, then it would certainly involve innocent people in the process and the authorities certainly wouldn’t let anything like that happen as it would cause a massive scandal in the nation and the world would be watching us"
"Civilians, soldiers and even police officers would die if that happens. These people are all ruthless individuals, lets not even forget the organization behind them who would certainly retaliate in the dark, assassinating important figureheads of the country is not an impossibility for them"
"What do you think would the result would be if something like that happens?"
Tom gulped in horror and replied, "A reign of terror would sweep the entire nation"
"Exactly, politicians are afraid of death so they would turn a blind eye towards this kind of dangerous people as long as they don’t wantonly kill innocent people"
