Chapter 145: Deserving Number One? Not exactly.
Chapter 145: Deserving Number One? Not exactly.
“Too badass!”
“He suppressed us all by just using a Gravity Arcana! How can we still fight him?”
“We can never beat him.”
All the trainees’ faces were pale, their eyes filled with horror.
There was strength in unity.
There was also strength in numbers.
Those who had the numbers would get the upper hand. It is a publicly accepted notion.
But numbers were useless when both parties were not in the same league as each other in terms of strength.
There were so many of them, nearly a hundred arcanists. Many of them were top trainees like Francis. But that did not make a difference.
Ling Jiu had subdued them with just the Gravity Arcana alone.
This just showed that they were not in the same league as Ling Jiu was.
“He is the number one trainee in the Pangu’s training camp. Francis is also the number one trainee in the Vulcan’s training camp. Both are top trainees. Why is the gap between them so wide?”
An arcanist from Vulcan felt baffled.
“Exactly. Both of them are top trainees. The gap between them shouldn’t be this wide. Or is it the level of the so-called number one in Vulcan?”
“Who knows?”
Everyone murmured. Their words sounded like slaps in Francis’s face. Francis’s expression could not have been worse at the moment.
It was humiliating.
It was utter humiliation.
He had never got beaten so badly and humiliated since his first arcana awakening.
Not once.
Never.
But today, he got slapped in the face in front of a hundred trainees from training camps around the world. He had got beaten in all aspects.
How could he face himself?
Did Francis not want to save face?
“My dear...”
Han Chujun looked at her boyfriend, then Ling Jiu. For some reason, she suddenly felt that her boyfriend she used to admire was not as badass as he used to be.
“Not that Francis is weak, but Ling Jiu is too strong!” That Pangu trainee said. “You know, Ling Jiu possesses seven types of arcana. No one from the younger generation is his match!”
“Seven types of arcana?”
“Are you kidding? How can a person have seven types of arcana?”
“Exactly. A person could only awaken three or four types of arcana at most, even after eating Treasures of Heaven and Earth every day. How can a person possess so many arcana?”
“Not ordinary people, of course. But Ling Jiu is an exception,” that Pangu trainee then continued with a smile, “he has an Arcana Replication ability.”
“Arcana Replication?”
Everyone was shocked. “Are you talking about the ability of replicating others’ arcana that have popped out of nowhere this year?”
“Right.”
“That is strange. Didn’t the Arcana Replication have a big flaw?”
“We have an Arcana Replication arcanist in our training camp. But everytime he replicates an arcana, the arcana will disappear after three days of usage at most. He will have to replicate the arcana again.”
“We also have an Arcana Replication arcanist in our training camp. He could only replicate two types of arcana, and then this ability went dormant for good. He could no longer replicate arcana again.”
“All the Arcana Replication abilities appearing currently have great flaws. They are not as magical as people have said.”
“...”
“Others’ Arcana Replication might be flawed, but not Ling Jiu’s”—That Pangu trainee explained—”because so far, Ling Jiu has replicated seven arcana: Earth, Gravity, Tungsten Form, Metal, Wood, Fire, and Water—all of which still exist.”
Everyone was struck dumb.
Not only that Ling Jiu had replicated so many arcana, the arcana even remained since replication—did it not mean that Ling Jiu’s Arcana Replication had no flaws?
“I can’t believe that Ling Jiu possesses an Arcana Replication ability.”
Han Chujun looked even more dumbfounded. She suddenly remembered the scene of arcana testing last year where Li Kai was the first person to awaken his arcana and Ling Jiu had not.
Ling Jiu had only awakened his arcana not long after, and his awakened arcana was the same as Li Kai’s, which was Earth Manipulation.
“There were many people with Earth Manipulation arcana, but only the three of us had awakened in the entire school. It was impossible for two persons to have the same ability!”
Han Chujun murmured. “In other words, Ling Jiu could have replicated Li Kai’s Earth Manipulation arcana at that time. This guy has been hiding his ability all this while!”
Ling Jiu couldn’t care less about what they said. He took out the long metal sword, killed the Centipede Dragon, and found the energy crystal in its belly.
...
Pandora was a colorful planet, full of dreamlike brilliance, the exit—or the other end—of the dimensional passage.
On the ground below the dimensional passage, a maglev airship was parked up there with dozens of people sitting inside.
Those people were staring at the screen, pointing and talking at the moment as the screen showed the scene of Ling Jiu’s forceful suppression of a hundred trainees.
There was only visual but no audio since this was just surveillance footage.
“Which training camp does this little guy belong to? He looks savage.”
A sturdy bald man pointed at Ling Jiu in the footage with a frown. He was Wang Dalong, the person in charge of Vulcan’s training camp.
“His name is Ling Jiu.”
The camp commandant chuckled with a proud expression on his face. “He belongs to our Super Training Camp.”
“One person suppressed nearly a hundred arcanists. Not half bad at all!”
Wang Dalong said, “As much as Francis is a number one genius, he still has a long way to go compared with a matriculation camp-level talent like Ling Jiu.”
“Indeed. Matriculation-level geniuses like him are rare.”
The other camp commandants and persons in charge nodded their agreements. They all knew how strong the defenses of the Centipede Dragon were. They could tell even though they were just looking through the monitor screen.
Ling Jiu could defeat the Centipede Dragon’s defenses with just a punch and subdue nearly a hundred arcanists. His strength had been beyond the level of the training camp.
One could imagine how talented he was by attaining such a level of strength at his age.
“By the way, Old Li, what arcana does Ling Jiu possess?”
As Wang Dalong looked at the camp commandant, all eyes were on him, all eager to know his answer.
“It will surprise you.” The camp commandant looked proud. “Ling Jiu has Arcana Replication, a flawless one at that.”
“Perfect replication?”
Everyone was taken aback.
“As you all know, there have been many arcanists with Arcana Replication, but they all have major flaws. Only Ling Jiu’s Arcana Replication has no obvious flaws!”
The camp commandant continued, “The only flaw is that the cooling-off period is long. After each successful replication, it takes a long time before the next replication could be activated.”
“I see.”
“Perfect replication, eh?”
“D*mn! This arcana is too unfair. More so because we don’t know if this kid will replicate ours one day.”
“Shouldn’t we be happy when we humans have such a talented guy among us? You have tunnel vision, Old Wang!”
“I was just saying. Don’t take it seriously, man!”
“By the way, Old Li, what kinds of arcana have the boy replicated so far?”
“There have been seven or eight types of arcana as far as I know. I am not so sure, though.”
“Tsk tsk, Arcana Replication,” Wang Dalong said. “Speaking of talent, Ling Jiu is the number one!”
“A wickedly talented arcanist like him should be sent to the matriculation camp to receive advanced training long ago. His presence in the training camp is just so unfair to others.”
“Number one? Not exactly.”
A skinny old man chuckled. “Old Wang, have you forgotten Hao Shuai from our Freedom Alliance? I don’t think he is Hao Shuai’s match.”
