Chapter 909 - You’re Not the Wen Yan I

Chapter 909: You’re Not the Wen Yan I Know

“Of course,” Grandma Wen quickly said.

After all, she would certainly be happy to have her precious granddaughter back home.

If it weren’t for the fact that her son was in the wrong, she would have definitely insisted for her granddaughter to stay in the Wen family.

“Grandma, could I come over with my mother tomorrow night?” Wen Ruo asked again.

“This…” Grandma Wen said with some hesitation. After a moment, she still agreed: “Of course. I will tell the kitchen to prepare a delicious dinner for tomorrow night.”

Grandma Wen knew that if Cai Qinyue came along tomorrow, the situation would become awkward.

However, she didn’t want Wen Ruo to be stuck in the middle of such a situation. After all, they would still meet from time to time in the future.

“Mhmm, thank you, Grandma.”

###

Inside the living room, Wen Nuan and Jian Shuxing accompanied Grandma Wen and Grandpa Wen. They were discussing private matters.

As Jian Yiling did not have to be present, she went to stand in the courtyard.

Wen Yan approached Jian Yiling in his wheelchair.

His attitude towards Jian Yiling had obviously changed. Previously, he was disgusted by Jian Yiling when she took the initiative to approach him. Now, he chose to take the initiative to approach her.

When Jian Yiling sensed his presence, she instinctively took a step back.

Her eyes were filled with doubt as she looked at Wen Yan.

It was obvious that Jian Yiling did not expect Wen Yan to take the initiative to approach her.

When Wen Yan saw Jian Yiling’s reaction, he realized that she looked like a bird that was startled by the mere twang of a bow.[1]

Pain flashed through his eyes.

“Do you like looking at flowers? It’s the second time you’ve stood in this courtyard to look at flowers,” Wen Yan said. He took the initiative to speak to Jian Yiling.

However, Jian Yiling did not reply.

She did not know whether to nod or shake her head.

She didn’t particularly like flowers. However, she didn’t want to stay with everyone else in the living room. She wasn’t interested in exchanging pleasantries. Therefore, she decided to wait in the courtyard.

She was more comfortable with being by herself.

As Jian Yiling did not respond to him, instead of becoming angry, Wen Yan waited patiently.

His eyes gazed towards the far side of the courtyard. After a while, Wen Yan spoke again: “I was wrong about some things.”

“What things?” Jian Yiling asked slowly.

“I know Wen Ruo encouraged you to do those things in the past. Therefore, I kicked her out of the Wen family,” Wen Yan said.

Jian Yiling paused for a moment. Then, she turned to look at Wen Yan’s fair and handsome face. All of a sudden, Jian Yiling realized what had happened in the past week.

“Did you arrange for this series of events?”

“Yeah, I did.”

“But… Uncle Wen never hurt you…”

“Sacrifices must be made.”

In the eyes of Wen Yan, it appeared as though he took this for granted.

“He didn’t do anything wrong,” Jian Yiling stressed again.

“But Wen Ruo did something wrong.”

“You’re not the Wen Yan I know.”

Then, Jian Yiling turned around to leave.

“Yiling…” Wen Yan said softly as he watched her walk away. His brows were furrowed.

“What are you looking at?”

Zhai Yunsheng noticed that Jian Yiling looked troubled ever since she returned from the Wen Residence. It was as though she encountered something difficult.

Zhai Yunsheng glanced at the materials placed in front of Jian Yiling. All the information was related to Wen Cheng.

Jian Yiling only appeared troubled when matters were related to relatives and friends.

“My uncle is upset,” Jian Yiling said as she raised her head to look at Zhai Yunsheng. Her eyes were glistening and her eyebrows were slightly knotted.

During dinner, Jian Yiling saw Wen Cheng. However, Wen Cheng did not talk to her much throughout dinner.

It was obvious that he was still shocked at what had happened. He wasn’t about to recover anytime soon.

“You want your uncle to become happy?”

“Mhmm.”

However, Jian Yiling did not know what she had to do to make her uncle happy. She was not skilled at these kinds of things.
