Chapter 1311
Chapter 1311: Not One Good Man in the Annihilation Universe
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
Yggdragon King Yangguang’s birthday was a very lively affair. Whenever a dragon celebrated their natal, thousands of creatures would make a pilgrimage!
The exotic beasts all formed herds from all over and swarmed to the White Palace, with some of them having spirits, able to prostrate themselves on the ground, much like humans, so that they could pay homage to their king.
Of course, only a portion of the beasts in the Eighth Universe had the privilege to do so. Among these beasts was a group said to have tried helping the Megadragons assault all parts of the universe, and each one of them had been branded as a sinner eventually; naturally, Yangguang and his family had a very dim view of this group of beasts.
Back then, Yangguang had honored his agreement with the Fiends and joined the assault team of the Devil Shadow Dragoons.
However, several days before they were bound to set off, Yangguang had learned that some of the exotic beasts under his command had entertained thoughts of rebelling. As such, Yangguang and Lady Hanxiao hurried to suppress all these disloyal beasts, thereby missing out on the war between the Hero Alliance and the Megadragons.
!!When the Dark Spiritualists opened the six cycles of reincarnation, the beast flood they had triggered was this group of sinners. Since Yangguang disliked the mankind of now and also those sinners that had betrayed him, he decided not to intervene, allowing the calamity of millions of exotic beasts to be unleashed upon the Alpha Universe.
This was clearly Yangguang’s stance regarding the Hero Alliance; regardless if the Fiend had betrayed the Annihilation Universe, he felt that the complete eradication of the race was going too far. In the end, he no longer wished to be associated with the Annihilators.
The exotic beasts, which could visit Yggdragon King Yangguang, were all Divine Beast grade. Xia Fei had never in his life seen such a congregation of so many different Divine Beasts; some of them could even speak the human language and hold a conversation with him.
On top of all that, there were the other Yggdragons, but it seemed like only Yangguang and his family had the ability to assume human forms.
All these other Yggdragons appeared to have low intellects, with some not even comparable to higher-level Divine Beasts. They acted no differently from feral beasts and were only concerned with feasting the moment they arrived at the palace.
Chu Jingfeng explained that this was how the Yggdragons were originally, smaller in size than the Megadragons and far lacking in terms of intellectual capacity—thus, the name Yggdragon.
Yangguang and Hanxiao, along with their son Yangji, were definitely deviants of the Yggdragons. While they were Yggdragons in form, their intelligence was even greater than the Megadragons’.
Yangguang’s high intellect and ability to assume a human form were the reasons why he ruled over the Yggdragons. Word on the grapevine was that Yangguang was not a dragon native to the land; rather, he was a foreigner. It was just that, over the many eons that had passed and given that this was not something Yangguang would talk about, there was no way to verify the veracity of this claim.
The benefit of following Chu Jingfeng was that he knew a great deal of things. Be it Xia Fei’s cultivation, pharmacology, or mechatronics, Chu Jingfeng had knowledge. In other words, he was a first-rate expert in a large variety of skills.
If he had a flaw, it would be expert Chu Jingfeng’s fondness of gossip, such as where those rare Divine Beasts originated or which Divine Beasts enjoyed inbreeding… Chu Jingfeng really enjoyed discussing such stuff.
Xia Fei found this period of time he spent with Chu Jingfeng to be truly interesting. Every day, the latter would give pointers to the former regarding his cultivation and would even help him in his study of the Serpent-swallowing Whale. Before turning in for the night, he would even share anecdotes from all the other universes.
Yangguang’s birthday banquet lasted for a full three days and three nights. The entire affair was very chaotic, especially with the presence of Yangguang’s fellow Yggdragons; they would drink alcohol with abandon the moment they laid eyes on it, their massive bodies falling all over the place; they would rush into the stars to fight with others after having a drink too much.
It was said that alcohol was one of the things Yangguang used to control the Yggdragons, and from time to time, he would send a large amount of it to his racial fellows, such that they could not bear to part with him anymore.
Such a method demonstrated how much more intelligent he was compared to the others of his race. Yangguang and his family were no doubt strange existences among the Yggdragons, just like the Skywings were in the Law Realm. It was really hard for them to keep a low profile.
Xia Fei silently observed everything unfold. Aside from the intellects Yangguang and family, the rest comprised the Yggdragons’ fighting force, which numbered nearly a hundred. Though these Yggdragons were dumb, they had a trait that Xia Fei liked very much, and this was their one track mind, not being afraid of death!
Aside from those things, the procession of Divine Beasts and other exotic beasts was also quite a sight to behold. Beasts had a fertility rate that sapient lifeforms could not match. The lower their level was, the greater their ability to procreate was, and having millions of exotic beasts roaming the lands freely was a very prickly matter to anyone concerned.
While the Eighth Universe was an independent ecosystem, the Annihilation Universe was surely aware of its existence but just chose not to do anything about it. This was all because they did not have the confidence that they could subdue all these beasts.
The present situation was extremely dangerous, be it for the Skywing Clan or Xia Fei. If the situation was to take a turn for the worse, the Skywings would be well-protected by retreating to the Eighth Universe.
…
Xia Fei bid farewell to Yangguang and his family and journeyed back to the Law Realm’s outpost.
Before departing, he communicated his thoughts to Yangguang: How it was imperative for him to go to the Annihilation Universe, but the Skywing Clan must not be left without a place to retreat. If such a scenario passed, he hoped that Yangguang would bring the Skywings and Avril into his territory the first chance he got.
This would be a giant load off Xia Fei’s chest. When warriors put their lives on the line, misgivings were something that they feared the most. Right now, Xia Fei felt a lot more at ease with Yggdragon King Yangguang watching his back.
Yangji’s Aerophant, Little Bao, sent Xia Fei back to the Law Realm’s outpost. The moment Xia Fei landed, he received a call from Xiu Zetian.
The screen appeared and Xiu Zetian was perplexed. “Xia Fei, where have you gone all this while?!”
Xia Fei replied, “Patiently cultivating, keeping a low profile. Everything that you asked.”
…
Xiu Zetian nodded. He did indeed ask Xia Fei to keep a low profile while cultivating. It was just that Xia Fei had run all the way to the Eighth Universe, and the Bixia Orb had no way of contacting him there, which had caused Xiu Zetian to find this somewhat strange.
“How did your cultivation go?” Xiu Zetian asked, somewhat expectantly.
“Still alright. I crossed the threshold and reached the Annihilator tier,” Xia Fei answered calmly.
“WHAT?!” Xiu Zetian was absolutely floored. With his eyes shining, he asked, “The last time I saw you was just twenty or so days ago, yet you’re telling me now that you’ve broken through to the Annihilator tier?!”
Xia Fei nodded. For some reason, it was Xiu Zetian who felt even more excited.
“Show me!” Xiu Zetian asked, excited.
Xia Fei furrowed his brows and showed the Soul Mark in his seventh brain region.
They saw that the nine Soul Marks at Founder tier had formed into a singular entity with nine sides. Additionally, Xia Fei had an even more distinctly outlined Soul Mark, which was what proved that Xia Fei had reached the Annihilation tier in his cultivation!
“God help me! Now, I’ve truly seen everything!” Xiu Zetian gazed emotionally into the sky, complete excitement written all over his face. He looked very fierce, with his teeth gnashed together.
“Wait for me. I’ll be right over to get you!” Xiu Zetian called loudly.
Xia Fei shook his head. “I still have some matters that need to be taken care of. We’ll talk about this in ten to fifteen days’ time.”
“That won’t do! Three days is the most you’ll get, or else you can forever forget about coming over the Annihilation Universe!” Xiu Zetian turned stern, refusing to take no for an answer.
Xia Fei was startled and then nodded meekly.
Xiu Zetian burst into laughter, looking at him meaningfully before turning the screen off.
*Sigh*
Radix sucked in a mouth of cold air. “It’s really as you said. Xiu Zetian seems to be in much of a rush to take you to the Annihilation Universe. I’m afraid that he wishes to use your identity to do something he can’t do in the past.”
Xia Fei gritted his teeth, got up, and made his way to the Law Realm’s forward outpost, muttering, “There are no good men in the Annihilation Universe.”
…
The first thing Xia Fei did upon returning was call for an emergency clan meeting. He got Grand Ancestor Xia Gucheng, the two executives Xia Ke and Xia Lianning, and Xia Guanghai to gather in the secret room.
Hearing Xia Fei’s words, everyone’s eyes went wide. They stared fixedly at Xia Gucheng.
As someone who had no filter, Xia Guanghai pointed at the grand ancestor and guffawed. “Ha! I knew you’re nothing simple, old man. You’re actually a Fiend!”
…
Xia Fei frowned. “All of us have traces of Fiend blood. This is very bad for us, for the Fiends are the enemies of the entire Annihilation Universe!”
“Hmph!”
Xia Guanghai snorted, thinking nothing of it. In his eyes, they had never lacked enemies, and this was no more than taking on the Annihilation Universe on top of everything.
Xia Gucheng said nothing, too. His eyes became somewhat dim, and he turned his head to the side.
Xia Ke could see that something was bothering the grand ancestor, so he took the initiative to speak. “Xia Fei, how do you plan on dealing with this?”
Xia Fei lit a cigarette and explained softly, “Bloodline isn’t something that anyone can just change, and I don’t really think that this is as bad as it seems. No matter what, the Skywing Clan is the Skywing Clan! That’s the one thing we have to remember.”
The Skywing Clan was the Skywing Clan!
Xia Fei’s first statement had highlighted what truly mattered, and everyone felt enlightened upon hearing that. Their eyes burned, and even their grand ancestor could not help but turn his head around and look at Xia Fei.
After a pause, Xia Fei continued speaking. “First off, I must go to the Annihilation Universe before our bloodline gets exposed. We must increase our understanding of the Annihilation so that we can deal with whatever comes our way when the time comes.
“Second, we should keep a low profile. I’ve already come to an accord with Yggdragon King Yangguang in the Eighth Universe. When it is essential, he’ll open his gate to us and accept us in his territory.
“From what I saw, Yangguang and his family are very strong, and calling them the second Annihilation isn’t an exaggeration. Plus, the Yggdragons have simple nature and are worth trusting far more than any other sapient lifeforms. Our clan needs to come up with a path of retreat for the worst-case scenario.”
Xia Ke and Xia Lianning nodded in unison. “You can rest easy on that. This isn’t the first time us, the Skywings, have been put in danger. Besides, our clan is full of speedsters! As long as we don’t desire to fight, there’s no one out there that can stop us from leaving!”
Xia Fei nodded. “The third point, which is also the last, the grand ancestor must retire.”
Xia Gucheng was so stunned by this he was rendered speechless.
Xia Fei pointed to himself with a self-mocking smile. “Everyone here knows how much trouble I get into, and I don’t see it stopping after I arrive in the Annihilation Universe. Right now, none of us has gotten in touch with people from the Annihilation Universe, so we’re all perfectly fine, but if there comes a day where I end up provoking some major forces there, they’ll definitely send men out here to investigate.
“By the time they send people over and find out that the Skywing Clan’s grand ancestor is a Fiend, well… Surely, some people out there will take that chance to strike us, especially while we’re down.”
Xia Fei had said this rather humorously, which caused everyone to laugh, thereby reducing the tension in the air by quite a bit.
Chu Jingfeng had told Xia Fei of a solution, and that was using the Arhat fruit to mask the Fiend aura, making it so that no one would suspect that the Skywings had Fiend blood running through their veins just by observing them, unless they grabbed someone and thoroughly dissected them.
However, this would not work on Grand Ancestor Xia Gucheng. He was too much of a Fiend, and the Arhat fruit was not strong enough to mask the fiendish aura and energy he gave off. This was why Xia Gucheng must step down and leave the clan, diving into the Alpha Universe without drawing much attention.
Schemes and inference had always been Xia Fei’s strong suits. He had already thought of everything on his way back home.
Everyone heard Xia Fei’s intricate arrangements and nodded in agreement. At present, it seemed like he had already considered every possible variable and had set up everything so that the Skywing Clan would be in the best position for whatever that may come their way.
After the meeting ended, Xia Guanghai, Xia Ke, and the others went about to prepare everything necessary, leaving Xia Gucheng and Xia Fei alone in the room.
Once everyone was gone, Xia Gucheng got up from his seat and told Xia Fei, “Come with me; I have something I want to give you.”
