Chapter 108 Your Woman

When he heard a gasp of shock, he looked up and his eyes flickered with surprise.

So these were the people causing a ruckus in the VVIP floor by making sure even the hospital staff can’t approach the room without clearance... The infamous Yang siblings. His eyes zoned in on one person in particular — Yang Ruqin who had set him up for a failed blind date. He still hadn’t forgiven her for that.

When she asked him if he was interested in going on a blind date with her friend, he agreed. He knew the Yangs vetted the people in their circle, and a friend she talked affectionately about would have definitely surpassed the Yang family’s standards. All she told him was that she came from a wealthy background, had a good job, and was very beautiful.

He had been busy pursuing his medical career and rarely spent time immersing himself within the socialite circle, much to his parents’ chagrin. When Yang Ruqin informed him that it was Zhao Lifei, he vaguely remembered about her reputation as the alcoholic ex-fiance of Zheng Tianyi, but decided to humor Ruqin’s idea.

When they finally met, he was pleasantly surprised to see she was nothing like the reputation that preceded her. He had been excited to get in touch with her, only to later find out that she purposely gave him a wrong number. The embarrassment from that realization had truly given his self-esteem a hit.

"Han Wuting, it’s been a while." Yang Ruqin spoke up, nervously glancing at her older brother and Feifei. She prayed the former wouldn’t understand why she was so anxious.

"Yes, indeed it has. We haven’t seen each other since the blind date you’ve set up for me. I really liked her but she gave me..." His eyes trailed to the woman on the bed. He was dazed to see Zhao Lifei. When he had performed surgery on her, he was simply too worried about the almost fatal state of her head injury that he didn’t realize her identity.

"We meet again, Zhao Lifei." He revealed an amiable smile.

"About that, can we speak about it in private?" Yang Ruqin hesitantly asked while praying that the stoic expression on her brother’s face didn’t mean he understood the situation.

Han Wuting raised a brow at her nervousness. What was she so scared about? Where did that supermodel confidence and allure go?

"No. I have a patient to tend to." He chuckled at Yang Ruqin before looking back to Zhao Lifei. "I didn’t expect this would be how we meet again." He wasn’t surprised by her horrible appearance. Being a doctor, he had seen worse. This didn’t even faze him.

Yang Feng’s eyes darkened when he finally pieced two and two together. The blind date that Yang Ruqin had dared to pair him up with was none other than with his Zhao Lifei. He suddenly remembered the long list of blind dates his sister had his woman go on. He intensely stared at his sister as the temperature dropped below freezing point. His expression was not one that people wanted to trifle with, especially when he looked as if ready to murder someone.

Yang Ruqin paled in fear when she saw her brother’s expression. "F-Feng-ge, I can explain-"

"Chen Gaonan, send her to the main mansion. I’ll deal with her later." Yang Feng ordered. Immediately, his secretary stepped forward with Yang Feng’s personal bodyguards.

"Wait, Feng-ge, hear me out first! You know if I go back, they’ll keep me there for a long time! Mother has been nagging me about my career and bringing a man home. I’m really in for an earful—"

Yang Feng turned his back to her while flicking his wrist. The men came forward to surround her. This was not the first time that Yang Ruqin had gotten in trouble with her brothers due to her unruly ways. The guards already had a long protocol on how to deal with her without hurting her. The Yang brothers strictly forbid rough treatment against their sister even while forcing her to come home. They could only surround her on all sides, and coerce her to walk.

Zhao Lifei frowned upon seeing Qinqin’s frightened expression. When they made eye contact, she was pleading for help. She was familiar with Qinqin’s mother’s nagging ways. She knew she would suffer along as Qinqin never fails to run to her side and vent after getting a scolding.

She turned to Yang Feng but he wasn’t looking at her. He was glaring at Han Wuting, sizing the man up and down. It was clear who the winner of this battle was, for Han Wuting immediately averted his eyes and bowed his head in fear.

"Mr. Yang, I didn’t know she was your woman." Han Wuting truthfully said, terrified of provoking the man before him. He didn’t think poking the rabbit would involuntarily awaken the slumbering dragon.

Zhao Lifei didn’t know why Yang Feng was so angry in the first place. She grabbed his sleeve in an attempt to get his attention, but he was busy intimidating Han Wuting. Growing annoyed, she tugged on the cuff of his shirt and jumped in surprise when he clasped his warm, calloused hands over her tiny ones. He looked down at her, the glacier within his eyes thawing out.

"What’s wrong? Does it hurt somewhere?" He asked while looking down at her with a worried expression.

"Qinqin didn’t do anything wrong, why is she being sent back to the main mansion? He did a good job on the surgery. I’m alive and well—"

"That’s not why I’m mad." He frowned.

She put two and two together. "You’re mad over a blind date? That’s so petty!" She couldn’t believe he was this childish!

"We didn’t even know each other back then." She added, her brows drawing together in frustration.

Her statement completely shocked the Yang siblings except for Yang Feng who already knew she didn’t remember him. Yang Yulong looked at her incredulously. She didn’t know his older brother? What kind of bullsh*t was that! She used to hover around him like an obnoxious fly that wouldn’t go away no matter how many times you swatted at it!

Yang Ruqin also looked disturbed by this. She remembered there was a point in their childhood that her Feifei suddenly stopped visiting the Yang Main Mansion. She had cried to her parents but even they couldn’t get any answer from the Zhaos. It took one month for her to finally get in contact with her best friend. From then on, there was a shift in Lifei’s personality.

Everyone in the Yang household was surprised. She stopped visiting the Main Mansion and opted to meet up somewhere else. She stopped nagging Yulong for any news of Yang Feng. Even Madam Yang noticed her absence since she used to ask her to pass on letters to Yang Feng. It was really strange, but Yang Ruqin figured it was simply because she wanted to move on from the painful parting.

Not long after, an engagement between the Zhao family and the Zheng family were announced to the public.

"Hey, hey, little girl, what do you mean you don’t know my—"

"That’s enough." Yang Feng interjected, not wanting this to be heard in front of strangers. The longer he thought about it, the more it irked him. How could she easily forget about him?

He remembered running into her at a banquet when she was twelve or thirteen, but she had ran right past him as if he was just a stranger. To add salt to the wound, she had been chasing after Zheng Tianyi holding a plate with a slice of cake in it. The cake just happened to be the same one that Yang Feng liked, and they had shared between them so many times before.

"But brother—"

The brooding stare from Yang Feng was so chilling, even Yang Yulong who had experienced hell and back, was paralyzed in fear.

Yang Yulong decided to drop the subject. His brother was right. This wasn’t the best time and place to speak about such crucial information.

"I’ll bring Xiao Qin back to the main mansion—"

"You will do no such thing. Ruqin will remain with me and keep me company." Zhao Lifei interjected, frowning as she watched the scene unfold before her.

"Lifei, Ruqin needs to be taught a lesson-"

"For what? Helping me move on?" Zhao Lifei angrily asked in disbelief.

Yang Feng fiercely glowered at her, "Moving on with what? Useless rebounds that would only waste your time?"

She narrowed her eyes to glare at him. "She was just trying to help!" She tried to yank her hand out of his, but instead, he tugged her towards him. His pull was so strong, she would have fallen off the bed if he didn’t haul her to his chest.

Even when he stared down at her, she wasn’t scared of him. A staring competition between the blizzard in his eyes and the raging fire in hers had started. At that moment, none of them planned to yield.
