Jiang Ye even caught himself thinking greedily, if only Huo Mian wasn’t a medical prodigy, she wasn’t Qin Chu’s wife… or Su Yu’s goddess… Oh, how wonderful it would be if she was only a normal little girl. Then, he could keep her by his side all day and spoil her rotten.

“Thank you for the compliment,” Huo Mian said coldly and walked past him.

“Huo Mian, I heard… Qin Chu died,”

Huo Mian’s heart sunk at Jiang Ye’s bluntness. She whipped her head back and glared at him.

“You don’t need to look at me like that, I’m only stating a fact.”

Huo Mian studied Jiang Ye for a moment and suddenly smiled. “Mr. Jiang, does my family business have anything to do with you?”

“Of course. I actually wanted to say – if Qin Chu’s dead, you’re single, right? Can I court you?”

“Mr. Jiang, you seem gravely ill. I would recommend checking out South Side’s psychiatry department if you are bored. The doctors there are among the best.” As she finished speaking, Huo Mian turned on her heel without looking back. She had no time or interest in speaking to this perverted man any longer.

Jiang Ye lifted a finger and touched his lips as he watched Huo Mian’s slim silhouette from behind.

“Such a spicy girl, I love it. What should I do about you?” Jiang Ye finally understood why Huo Siqian was so obsessed with Huo Mian, and at the same time, why Mo Xue’er was so disgusted by her.

Other than a pretty but hollow shell, Mo Xue’er was a woman with no depth. There was not a single woman on earth that could keep a man’s heart with simply their beautiful appearance.

Mo Xue’er considered herself clever and acted accordingly, but really, her actions often were idiotic. It was rather tiresome.

However, a calm and nonchalant woman like Huo Mian was like a light spring breeze, and everything about her drifted through the wind, into the most tender part of his heart.

That being said, he had no chance against Qin Chu, Su Yu, or Huo Siqian. He was a clown compared to them, but nonetheless, he was willing to love her. As if simply the idea of having a crush made him happy and content.

By the time the event ended, it was almost ten o’clock.

Huo Mian’s cell phone rang as she and Su Yu exited the hotel and were about to get into the car.

“Why aren’t you picking up? Who’s calling?” Su Yu asked.

“It’s Huo Siqian,” Huo Mian looked at the familiar number on the screen and replied coldly.

“Give it to me,” Su Yu wanted to answer the call.

“Leave it, I won’t answer his phone calls anymore,” Huo Mian said as she got into the car.

While they were halfway home, Huo Mian looked down and noticed she received a video message from Huo Siqian.

With a bad feeling, she clicked open the video.

Blood drained from her face in an instant as she called out to Su Yu, “Su Yu, stop the car.”

Su Yu immediately stomped on the brakes and pulled the car over to the side.

“What’s wrong?”

“Um, I-I just remembered I left something at the hotel. I’m need to go back and get it.”

“What did you leave behind?”

“A… bag,” Huo Mian answered with a hint of panic in her voice.

“Oh? I will go and get it for you.”

“Okay, I will wait for you here. I’ll go sit in that bubble tea shop.” Huo Mian pointed at a storefront at the side of the road.

“No, it’s too dangerous for you to be alone,” Su Yu said warily.

“I’ll be fine. I will be in the public eye. I won’t run around too much, and it’ll take you at most ten minutes to retrieve the bag!”

“Fine. Don’t go anywhere, I’ll be back within eight minutes,” Su Yu said.

“Okay.” Huo Mian let out a forced smile.

As soon as Su Yu drove off, she immediately hailed down a taxi.

“Miss, where are you going?”

“Tianfu Road, the Huo Family Mansion,” said Huo Mian.
