Chapter 236: The system fairy
Chapter 236: The system fairy
But a part of her still clung to the hope that he could understand, that he could forgive her.
[Please, Bai Lung… I know what I did was wrong. I betrayed your trust, I used you. But I truly did care for you, in my own way. You were more than just a means to an end for me.]
She reached out a trembling hand, her eyes pleading.
[I…I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. But please, try to understand. I was desperate, I was dying. You were my only chance at survival. I couldn’t bear the thought of perishing. I know that’s not an excuse, but it’s the truth.]
Bai Lung regarded her with cold, unforgiving eyes.
He could see the desperation in her expression, but it only served to harden his heart further.
“Your reasons mean nothing to me. You still lied, you still used me. You’re nothing but a selfish, manipulative creature. I trusted you, I thought we were partners. But it was all a lie… I gave you my words to share you don’t don’t push it too far,”
He turned away, unable to stand the sight of her any longer.“I don’t know what you’re planning, or what you hope to achieve by binding yourself to me. But know this – I will never forgive you. You’ve betrayed me, and I won’t let you use me again.”
The system fairy’s shoulders slumped, her expression one of profound sorrow and regret. She knew she had irreparably damaged the trust between them, and that there was no going back.
[I…I understand, Bai Lung. I know I hae hurt you, and there’s no excuse for my actions. All I can say is that I never meant to betray you, not truly. But I see now that my need to survive overrode any genuine care I had for you ]
She let her hand fall back to her side, defeat etched into every line of her being.
[I won’t ask for your forgiveness, because I don’t deserve it. But please, believe me when I say that I never wanted to hurt you. You were…you are important to me, in ways I’m still trying to understand.]
She paused, her gaze lowering to the ground as she struggled to find the right words.
[I know I’ve lost your trust, and I don’t blame you. But if there’s any part of you that still sees me as something more than a selfish creature…I hope you’ll at least consider giving me one more chance.]
However,
Bai Lung’s expression remained hardened, his jaw set in a firm line. He didn’t speak for a long moment, his eyes searching her face as if weighing the sincerity of her words.
” I… I don’t know if I can trust you again,”
Bai Lung finally spoke, his voice thick with conflicted emotions.
“You betrayed me, used me, all for your survival. How can I be sure you won’t do it again?”
Helped him fight against Bai Huan? What a joke, If System hadn’t bound herself to him, Bai Lung could have been a genius capable of slaughtering Bai Lunc.
The system fairy’s eyes glistened with unshed tears as she met his gaze.*
[I can’t promise you that, Bai Lung. The truth is, I am still bound to you even if your source has changed, and I still need your power to survive. But I swear to you, from the bottom of my heart, that I will never deceive you again…]
She took a tentative step closer, her hands clenching and unclenching at her sides.*
[I know I’ve broken your trust, and I know I don’t deserve a second chance… But please, let me prove to you that I truly care for you, that I want to help you, not just use you. Give me a chance to make amends.
Bai Lung’s brow furrowed, his expression torn between anger and a glimmer of something else – perhaps the faintest hint of hope.
“And what if I refuse? What if I choose to sever our bond and cast you aside?” he challenged, his voice laced with skepticism.
Water never flows backward.
The system fairy’s breath caught in her throat, her eyes widening with a mixture of fear and desperation.
[I… I don’t know what would happen, Bai Lung. I’ve never been separated from a host before. It could very well be the end of me… I don’t have enough energy to survive. ] she admitted, her voice trembling.
[Please, I’m begging you, don’t cast me aside. I know I don’t deserve your kindness, but I have nowhere else to go. Without you, I’ll perish.]
She took another step closer, her hands clasped together pleadingly.*
[ I’m willing to do anything to regain your trust, Bai Lung. Anything. Just… please, don’t abandon me. I can’t bear the thought of losing you.]
Bai Lung’s expression softened slightly, a flicker of sympathy crossing his features.
He could see the genuine fear in her eyes, the desperation lacing her words and he somewhat believe that she would die without him.
After all, based on his calculation, she must have survived the ‘Qi flow cycle’ using her own means but in this Cycle, she is weak and unable to do anything.
“I… I don’t know what to do, system fairy. Part of me wants to believe you, to give you another chance. But the other part of me is terrified that you’ll only betray me again,”
He ran a hand through his hair, letting out a weary sigh.
“I need time to think, to figure out what I truly want. Can you… can you give me that? Just some space to sort through all of this?”
The system fairy nodded slowly, her shoulders sagging with relief.
[Of course, Bai Lung. Take all the time you need. I’ll be here, waiting, whenever you’re ready to talk to me again.]
She offered him a tentative, hopeful smile, her eyes shining with a cautious optimism.
[Thank you… ]
