Chapter 1591 1584: Ruled by Beasts (7)
Chapter 1591 1584: Ruled by Beasts (7)
"Wei Wuyin mentioned earlier that there were three beasts that ruled the Sky Heart Galaxy: the Rocs, Almirajs, and Hyenas. I think this is a Hyena."
"Hyena?" Wei Si and Qing Qiumu were stunned; the latter had disbelief written across her face. When she examined the beasts once again through her empowered perception, she discovered that the beast did look very similar to the literary descriptions of hyenas she had read.
"An existence that is neither canine nor feline, of a lineage born from twisted mutations of the primordial, blessed by the divinity of laughter, and cursed by the divinity of hunger. This was the description I had read," Qing Qiumu voiced with awe reverberating within each syllable. While there was colorful language and exaggerated meanings within, the indistinct truths often revealed by the literature of the Myriad Yore Continent were hard to ignore. Similarly, the story told of the birth of a Fire Phoenix was just as majestic, if not more so, and there was a clear relation between Fire Phoenixes and Vermilion Birds.
Meanwhile, Wei Si sunk into a daze as if he was extrapolating knowledge from the depths of his soul. The Spartan lineage was exceptional, and their inheritance contained incredible depth and knowledge. However, not all of it was freely accessible to Spartans who had yet to undergo the appropriate awakening, requiring them to return to their homeland. Wei Si had put that off to travel the stars with his cousin. A choice that he hadn\'t regretted since he made it.
"Hyenas...Taotie..." An obscure link existed within his mind, incomplete yet certain.
"Taotie?" Qing Qiumu was broken out of her stupor. If there was an existence that could be described by the Myriad Yore Continent\'s literature as a divinity of hunger, then a Taotie was certainly best fitting.
Yue Songli was ignorant of both names, but her entire body was telling her to act.
She took a step forward, prompting Wei Si to snap out of his daze and stare at her. "Big Sis Songli, it\'s best that we stay away for now."
However, Yue Songli clenched her fists and fixed her gaze on the chomping hyena lying on a cloudy bed of stars. "I have to go," she circulated her mystic power, took a step forward, and began to fly off from the asteroid toward the hyena!
"Wait!" Wei Si wanted to grab her but was halted by an invisible hand.
Yue Songli turned back and smiled comfortingly, "I\'ll be okay." She turned her head to see the gigantic hyena once again enjoying its meal, not caring about them in the slightest. She took a deep breath and her mystic aura erupted as she accelerated toward the hyena.
Meanwhile, Wei Si eyed his hand and then no longer interfered.
"How strong do you think that it is?" Qing Qiumu asked. She was unable to assess its strength, and she was keenly aware that size didn\'t directly correlate to strength, and for beings at the Mystic Ascendant Realm, eating a Solar Star wasn\'t too impressive. They could destroy them with ease and create them as well. In the eyes of a mortal, they were all like divinities with means far exceeding their imagination.
She had asked a while ago, and Yue Songli had confessed that her cultivation had reached the pinnacle of the Soul of Mysticism Phase, and she could ascend into the Demi-Mortal Phase at any time, only holding back due to Wei Wuyin\'s repeated urgings toward fortifying a strong, stable foundation. While she could advance, the truth was that her cultivation base was lacking. After her capture by Trueborn, she was tasked with advancing rather than consolidating and reinforcing, and while she was originally slightly stronger than the average Soul of Mysticism Phase cultivator of the Grand Cyclic Stellar Region, in the grand scheme of the vast world of cultivation, that wasn\'t saying much.
In fact, if the Azure-Prime Galactic Zone was used as the measurement for her strength back then, she would\'ve been beneath the below-average rating, barely better than trash, and simply not worth looking at in terms of comprehensive strength or means. This was deliberate to not present her with opportunities to escape captivity.
Now, her cultivated strength was vastly superior to before. And while it was vastly superior, by virtue of being unable to rectify the fragile and unsteady mortal foundation of hers, she was still inferior to the Azure-Prime Galactic Region\'s Chosen. At best, she was stronger than average. While she might not be able to defeat ordinary Demi-Mortal Lords, she would find it difficult to defeat those monstrous Earthly Saints.
Fortunately, Wei Wuyin had solidified his Alchemic Dao at the Worldly Saint Alchemist level, capable of concocting products that could help fix those difficult issues. Unfortunately, this was her two-year date, and besides casually cultivating benefits that Wei Wuyin brought directly before her, such as in the White Abyss, she focused mostly on enjoying the astonishing scenery and events, the company of others, and painting alongside Qing Qiumu.
Wei Si was a Spartan, so it was extremely appropriate for Qiumu to ask him to gauge the strength of any lineage or race was the right one, even if she was unaware of his lineage. They had a sixth sense when it came to determining the strength of beings of all types that not even Magi possessed, and the only exception was existences like Wei Wuyin or Su Mei that defied common sense and convention.
"Strong? If I had to say..." He paused briefly as he assessed the hyena, his beady eyes glinting, "Roughly as strong as Big Sis Cuifen\'s maid. Perhaps a little weaker..."
Qing Qiumu\'s breath went still after hearing that. Wasn\'t Grey Rose a Mystic Overlord? An existence at the Ascended Saint Phase?! If the Soul of Mysticism Phase, the Second Stage of the Mystic Ascendant Realm was compared to the Ascended Saint Phase, the Seventh Stage of the Mystic Ascendant Realm, then using the words as great as a heavenly chasm or as different as an ant and a god, then there wouldn\'t be any falsehood in it!
The difference was like comparing a new martial artist to an experienced grandmaster using the same fighting style. The first had only delved into the Mystic Dao, barely touching its edges, while the other had seized a high degree of control over it!
She grew concerned for Yue Songli as she flew further and further away. However, her breath resumed as she recalled Wei Wuyin\'s words. All her worries vanished, and she was relieved. This type of feeling she never had when traveling with her previous companions, this trust that no matter what, everything was perfectly fine. It was an emotion that any man or woman would feel envy for-security.
"Good luck," Qing Qiumu whispered.
-----
Wei Wuyin\'s eyes narrowed slightly. Yue Songli was overly brazen, but he could sense that her decision was not solely based on greed or desire for conquest, but stemmed from something within her soul as if calling out to her. This feeling was something Wei Wuyin had noticed, experienced, and studied extensively for. The influence of the Heavenly Daos!
He lifted his right sleeve, causing Young Master Shang to curiously look over, confusion in his eyes as he expected that Wei Wuyin would have looked at his left given how much attention he was giving it.
[RIGHT ARM]Karmic Luck Value: 212,530.5 ⌜ 167,824.2.First Calamity: Survived - 7/7.Second Calamity: Claimed - 1/1.Third Calamity: Claimed - 3/3. Fourth Calamity: Suppressed - 1 Year.
Wei Wuyin\'s left eye twitched! So much! This was over double the amount of Karmic Luck Value than the Alchemic Expo!
44,706.3!
Suddenly, Wei Wuyin acutely felt the hand of the Heavenly Daos seize his fortune, allowing it to naturally gravitate toward the Sky Heart Galaxy, and most notably, toward Yue Songli. The aura of the Heavenly Daos was manifesting!
If the expo felt like a wave of water, then this felt like a cascading waterfall! It was terrifyingly strong and clear to his senses!
The excessive cost aside, Wei Wuyin was glad that his Karmic Luck was finally triggered. However, estimating the cost of this opportunity, he started to realize why the Heavenly Daos were unable to find appropriate opportunities for him. This hyena of mutated bloodline intermixed with the faint traces of a Star-Devourer, or at least an existence with similarities to one, was only at the Mystic Overlord level of strength.
Currently, with his Minor Authorities and the level of his Alchemic Dao, the only opportunities suitable for him were likely designed for Blessed at the True Sage or greater. Not only was that exceedingly rare in the regions he visited, but doing so might require a lot of hidden moves to be made by the Heavenly Daos beforehand to set up something of that level if it wasn\'t a blessed land of cultivation or something more spontaneous.
Not even an Edict Seed was sufficient given his grasp of six complete Laws, and especially not the Ice Edict Seed since he could be considered to already have the Minor Authority of Origin, which embodied the elemental forces of the world and so much more.
"Good luck, my passionate painter," Wei Wuyin said softly as Yue Songli\'s flying figure was reflected in his gaze, her body wreathed in the blessing of the Heavenly Daos as it slowly encroached toward the hyena.
-----
Ming Shufeng halted her steps as she gazed at the sky above her. She could keenly feel the descent of the heavens somewhere near, and it was utterly massive, and very, very far away. She pouted slightly. If she was closer, she could try to profit.
"Hahaha! Look at me! Hehe!" A young boy was riding Xiao Bai as he giggled. The boy had furry ears and a long tail, his face angular, and his hair was a soft golden brown as tufts of fur were on his forearm and hands, including his lower leg and feet. He had the eyes of a hyena, large and dark.
Meanwhile, there were other kids of similar appearance, both girls and boys, who were playing around Xiao Bai, touching his wings and sides with awe. "So soft!" A young girl cried.
They weren\'t speaking in the common mortal language, but seemingly a language mixed with high-pitched giggling and verbal grunts and clicks, but the two had already a unique spiritual spell to decipher their language, so it was no different than any language in their ears.
Su Mei, Ming Shufeng, and Xiao Bai found themselves on a planet inhabited by beastmen of the hyena lineage. Their cultivation bases weren\'t very advanced, and their small villages were made of dry wood and humanoid bones as foundation for their houses but after a display of intimidating aura and speaking in their language, the beastmen showed kindness and trust that was unexpected.
Perhaps they knew that they couldn\'t defeat them and they had no hostile intentions.
Ming Shufeng frowned and walked toward Su Mei. "Where\'s the humans?" She asked. Where there were beastmen derived from a specific lineage, there was often that specific lineage being the majority with the beast themselves being the minority. However, the entire village was beastmen, and their bloodline auras weren\'t uneven, favoring beasts after breeding. This meant they were all first or second-generation beastmen!
"..." Su Mei observed thoughtfully.
Suddenly, the beastmen all shivered in unison.
"Mother is coming!" The children shouted.
