Chapter 51: Showtime
Chapter 51: Showtime
"Brightdoom Kingdom has... an outstanding individual," The noble from the Blue Rose Kingdom uttered.
Although it was akin to whisper, everyone from the same kingdom heard him.
Their eyes were locked on Lioness.
She had used the players and their skills the best out of the whole guilds gathered her. Her orders were decisive and ruthless, with the guild territory on the line.
Every kingdom had proposed such an offer, and each guild reacted pretty much the same.
At last, Lioness defeated the two guilds from her kingdom, and she had the guild territory covered already!
That was too fast as other kingdoms\' guilds still stood on the battleground.
Casualties naturally followed here, but no guild was utterly eliminated like in the Brightdoom Kingdom!
"She didn\'t absorb the guild this time," Another noble added, "Her numbers already exceed others, and her second victim provided more than enough resources... This woman is good, especially her commands."
An uncomfortable glitter flashed in the noble\'s eyes.
Others understood him.
"Our side has... a demon. He\'s a demon, isn\'t he?"
"If anything, his laughter is quite jarring."
"Indeed."
The nobles saw that Lioness had distanced herself from the pyromaniac, and he was naturally the focus of their conversation.
Together with Steel Melody, Reylin wreaked havoc. If ants became too much of a problem for a mage such as him, his tank would cover him from three sides, gladly taking all the assaults onto her shield and armor.
With this window, Reylin would distance himself, defeat the giant ant, and continue the onslaught!
The flames howled, Reylin laughed, and even Steel Melody\'s laughter became somewhat closer to his.
Surrounded by the flames, they were undoubtedly the weirdest duo, and the occasional legendary flames scared even the nobles.
However, at one point, Reylin stopped.
"He got hit... by the arrow!"
"It was Lares... It seems like there\'s bad blood between them."
"True... Let\'s see how it unfolds.
-
[-1243 HP!]
Reylin\'s head was struck by the critical strike.
His head promptly bent forward, and he looked at the ground with narrowed eyes. Of course, he scrutinized the messages first, and it just seemed like he was looking at the ground with tension in his eyes.
[Your Flame Shield has absorbed the damage!]
[-1243 MP!]
In a normal scenario, Reylin would have already been on a losing side. His HP wasn\'t high, to begin with, and such a critical strike would have started the bleeding. Knowing how archers worked in games, Reylin also expected the other effects.
Lares didn\'t disappoint.
From the arrow\'s tip, a sharp smell oozed out.
It became dense brown fog that covered Reylin\'s whole face.
[Stamina Eater Poison has been applied to you.]
[An unknown effect has been applied to you.]
Reylin didn\'t even read the messages.
His head exploded with flames, and he erased the poison as fast as possible.
Alas, the effects kicked in already, and Reylin couldn\'t move his head around. He was forced to look straight, and that feeling was heavily uncomfortable.
He clicked his tongue, "Lares..."
Reylin inwardly thought, \'It can be only him. He\'s bold enough to attack me, and I haven\'t spotted any other guilds so far. For his father, he will try to deal with me as soon as possible.\'
That archer chose a great time to strike first.
Steel Melody was busy tanking three ants, and due to their sizes, no matter what skill she used, she wouldn\'t be able to free herself.
It was either defeat or victory!
Reylin whispered, \'I can\'t expect him to be in the same position either... He\'s using my flames against me."
"My flames." Reylin took the arrow out of his head and looked around.
No sight of an archer greeted his eyes, and ants and flames prevailed here.
The tank was self-sufficient, so Reylin wasn\'t worried about her. He just couldn\'t use her abilities now as the black staff\'s fireballs focused on the ants.
It wasn\'t like Reylin knew where the archer was, so the ants were the only target.
A few seconds later, another arrow struck Reylin.
This time, it hit his left arm.
The force behind the skill pushed Reylin to the side.
Although it was just a little, Steel Melody shouted, "Rey! You okay?!"
"I am fine," He replied while taking out the arrow from his arm.
The flames erased the poison, and Reylin added, "We enter the stalemate. As long as flames burn, I won\'t die. It\'s pointless for him to focus on you because we don\'t know his position."
"I agree..." Steel Melody turned around after the three ants died.
A worry transpired on her face, and she looked dejected.
Not only their hunt and fun stopped, but the enemy was also too hard to deal with. He used everything he had at his disposal, and his longer attacks were a pain in the ass!
Steel Melody\'s words made Reylin chuckle, "Our fun stopped. That\'s probably one of the goals should he fail to kill me." He looked at the wound, "Now, we know that he has marked me."
"Eh? How do you know that?" Steel Melody tilted her head, asking genuinely.
"The first arrow hit my head. Lares let it out from the high position since we are surrounded by the flames. The second arrow came from the densest area, and it was a clean shot. I am inclined to believe the second effect is precisely it.
He can distance himself further now. That\'s why we can\'t stay idle."
Since the second arrow was sent quick enough, Reylin knew that Lares was still in the vicinity.
"How will we find him, though?" Steel Melody asked again.
"Gamble."
"Eh?"
"We will gamble. Don\'t forget to shout \'Showtime\' when you see him," Reylin replied and passed the simplest plan Steel Melody had ever heard!
