Chapter 41
Chapter 41
Everyone was looking forward to Redbone 2. Park Seong-won had avoided the reviews from the preview screening on the internet.
He was watching the first screening of the movie, so there was no one to spoil it for him.
He hated spoilers with a passion.
When the time came, everyone got up from their seats and headed to Screen 1. Park Seong-won followed them.
The ads ended and the signature of Marine, the director, appeared on the screen. Then, the OST of Redbone 2 started playing.
Wow!
Wow!
Flash!
The screen lit up. It was a captivating two hours. As expected of Marine! As expected of Redbone! Park Seong-won smiled from ear to ear and was about to get up from his seat when he saw the aisle.
The audience in the front rows had left first, causing a traffic jam.
Should we wait a bit and then leave?
He felt like sitting back and listening to the Redbone OST. He looked around and saw that there were others who had the same idea.
He was watching the ending credits while listening to the music, when
The names that were scrolling up suddenly disappeared and the screen turned pitch black. The Redbone OST that was filling Screen 1 also stopped.
What? An accident?
Dont we need to call the staff?
The audience murmured and the people who were leaving stopped in their tracks.
Thats when it happened.
Boom!
Boom boom!
Park Seong-won lifted his head and looked at the screen. The screen was still black. But the music kept playing.
The viewers who were leaving Screen 1 heard the music and wondered what was going on. They came back inside. They were all bewildered.
Park Seong-won opened his mouth without realizing it.
Shadowman?
His voice echoed loudly in Screen 1, where only the Shadowman OST was playing. Everyone gasped and held their breath. And then,
The screen lit up again.
There was a teddy bear on a wooden table. And a persons shadow covered the table.
[William?]
The shadow moved as if it heard a womans voice.
Boom!
The Shadowman OST ended and the Redbone OST resumed. The ending credits of Redbone 2 also started scrolling up again.
The viewers who were leaving Screen 1, the viewers who were getting ready to leave, and the viewers who were leisurely listening to the Redbone OST. They all opened their mouths and stared at the screen with the white letters.
What? What was that? Did I see that?
Huh?
Screen 1 exploded with Park Seong-wons exclamation.
Park Seong-won went home and turned on his computer. He didnt even know how he got home. He went to his favorite site and read the review that had no spoilers. He had wondered what it meant before he watched Redbone 2.
[Redbone 2 Preview Review]
Wow. (Music)
Wow?(video)
Wow!(realization)
-Agree.
Crazy.
Thats insane.
It was exactly like the review I read. My heart was still pounding.
Title: (Spoiler) Redbone 2 Cookie Video Spoiler
Author: Marine Fan
Wow. Redbone 2 was fun, but the cookie video was the best.
I had a feeling that Shadowman 2 was coming, but wow shocking
I was happy when I heard the music, thinking that Shadowman 2 was coming!
But then I saw the teddy bear in the video,
Wow. Where have I seen that before!(Shadowman 10 times<stupid)
And then the womans voice. William.
I thought I heard it wrong and looked at the subtitles. The subtitles also said [William?]
LOL. I was in a daze after hearing that. I came out of the theater and saw the sunlight and realized! But the people who watched the movie with me also seemed to snap out of it then. I heard them saying, Huh! Wow?! all the time LOL
Seriously. Marine take all my money!! How can there be such a shocking trailer!
Can someone tell me the story of the comic with William and Shadowman? I cant predict the plot!!
-Really shocking. I thought it was an extra.
-A hero or a villain?
=Too young to be a villain.
=Not too young to be a hero?
-Shadowman comic, came out 20 years ago. It was unpopular then and out of print. It might be in a place like the Marine History Museum.
Park Sung-won, who was reading the post, wrote a comment.
[(Spoiler) Redbone 2, then?]
Does that mean Lee Seo-jun is in the Marine series now?
-Isnt it a different actor in Shadowman 2?
=Right. In Shadowman 1, he was an extra, so they used a Korean, but now he has a pretty important role, so wouldnt they cast a new actor?
Is that so?
Park Sung-won scratched his head.
-Then they should have used an American from the start. Isnt that racial discrimination?
=No way. The Shadowman director is not like that. He made a lot of movies against racial discrimination.
-Just by looking at the cookie, where Lee Seo-jun doesnt appear and only the shadow does, its not him.
[(Spoiler) Redbone 2, but wouldnt it be a hit if he appears?]
The title doesnt have a subject, so its not a spoiler.
But if Lee Seo-jun appears as William, wouldnt it be a hit?
They must be thinking of making a Shadowman series, and if he has a very important role, he would keep appearing, right? And that too in a Marine movie.
Marine movies are not only released in the US, but all over the world, and his name would be huge. Guaranteed box office, guaranteed fame. There would be no Korean actor who succeeded in Hollywood like this.
-But he wont.
-Thats the problem. He wont 100%.
The public opinion was negative. There were more and more posts arguing about the cookie video from Redbone 2.
The cookie video of Redbone 2 was a hot topic in the US as well. People were debating whether Seo Jun should be the leader, or whether they should cast a new actor, or whether the existing actors were good enough.
And a week after Redbone 2 was released, a post appeared on the website and SNS of Marinesa.
[Marinesas heroes are everyones heroes, and no one is excluded from everyone.]
-Of course!
-Everyones heroes! How cool.
-What do you mean?
Richard Bowen clasped his head at Fallons words. He had a headache just thinking about a few months ago.
You should have seen his eyes.
Ryan Will, the director? I heard he was amazing.
A few months ago. While Fallon was on a business trip, a meeting was held. When they proposed to make a series of Shadowman to Ryan Will, the director, it was because of the synopsis he brought.
William, the nemesis of Shadowman. It was a role that was only known as an extra, but it was a role that would appear throughout the Shadowman series.
They discussed whether to cast an Asian or a Westerner for that role, regardless of age.
Ryan Will, who attended the meeting, crossed his arms and looked silently at Richard Bowen, who was sitting at the head of the table.
The people in the meeting room who were arguing also became quiet as they saw Ryan Wills expression, who only stared at them without saying anything. The meeting room was silent.
It was horrible to think about it now. Richard Bowen washed his face.
That was clearly a look that said, if you dont listen to me, Ill make a movie about Marinesas racism, just like what I said in this meeting room.
Hahaha. Ryan Will is good at that. Maybe he won an award this time.
Are you on his side because youre Korean?
At Richard Bowens words, Full Name, Fallon Park shrugged his shoulders.
Theres nothing more stupid than judging by country in this global era. Besides, look at this.
Hmm? What is it?
Its the revenue and audience numbers of Redbone 2 by country. Well, dont you think its okay to have a Korean actor with this much?
How many people are there in Korea?
Ten times that.
Thats amazing.
Redbone 2, one week after its release.
It surpassed 5 million viewers.
Park Sungwon turned on the TV. He wanted to watch his favorite entertainment program, but the timing was bad and an advertisement came out.
Is it a new movie?
A man running hard on a black screen appeared. He was covered in wounds and kept looking back. The actors name appeared at the bottom of the screen. Lee Jiseok.
Ah, Lee Jiseok. He always fails when hes the lead
The man who was running arrived at a village. Crows cawed and a large wooden gate slammed shut. And suddenly the screen turned black. The tense music also stopped at the same time.
Park Sungwon felt a subtle sense of strangeness at the sudden blackout.
Jingle!
Huh?
He heard a bell sound. Park Sungwon sat down slowly in front of the TV without taking his eyes off the screen.
Jingle!
There was a bell that looked like a fruit hanging from a branch on the wooden table. He had seen a shaman holding a bell like that and performing a ritual on TV. Park Sungwon didnt even realize his mouth was open.
Jingle!
And a shadow of a person appeared on the table.
[Little one.]
The shadow moved.
The screen changed and letters that looked like they were on fire appeared.
[Evil Spirit, coming soon in early August!]
And Park Seong-won stared blankly at the television screen until several ads passed by and a variety show came on.
Title: (Redbone 2 Spoiler) Is that for real?
Author: Marine Fan
Should I put a spoiler for Redbone 2 or not? I decided to put it anyway.
First of all, if you havent seen the trailer for Evil Spirit, go watch it on YouTube.
There are two possibilities.
- Evil Spirit plagiarized.
- Marine Studio gave permission.
If its plagiarism, then the production company of Evil Spirit is in big trouble. You know what I mean.
Welcome This is the land of lawsuits, America
And if Marine Studio gave permission
Lee Seo-jun!!!
It must be Lee Seo-jun!!
Cookie video shadow = Evil Spirit shadow = Lee Seo-jun
Thats why Marine Studio agreed!
Wow. I got hit in the back of the head twice in a week.
Seriously, if Lee Seo-jun is in Evil Spirit, then the Shadowman William who will appear later will automatically be Lee Seo-jun too.
+) I emailed Marine Studio and they said they gave permission! Wow Wow
-Marine Studio and Evil Spirits big picture Goosebumps
-Seriously, unless you have a lot of courage, it cant be plagiarism. Then!?
-Wow. I have to go see Evil Spirit to check if its Lee Seo-jun.
Two days after the trailer for Evil Spirit came out. Korea was once again on fire with Lee Seo-jun.
[What is the next work of Lee Seo-jun, the Korean Hollywood child actor?]
[What kind of movie is Evil Spirit?]
[What kind of actor is Lee Seo-jun in Hollywood?]
[Is Lee Seo-jun in Korea or America right now?]
-At this point, hes a real Hollywood star.
-Wow. My god. Isnt Lee Seo-jun six years old now?
-Hes five years and five months old in American age.
A YouTuber named Moviegoer uploaded a video. Moviegoer shrugged his shoulders and laughed bitterly.
Lee Seo-jun really solved everything perfectly. I couldnt imagine it. A Hollywood movie, and a Marine Studio movie at that, confirmed to appear in a series and already filming a Korean movie. I really wonder what kind of actor he will become in the future.
-Lol he was wrong about coming out in two years lol
-???: America? Korea? Why not both?
And in early August, Evil Spirit was released.
Park Seong-won didnt miss the first screening on the first day again.
He entered the theater.
Its Lee Seo-jun, right?
100 percent Lee Seo-jun.
As he looked at the poster of the evil spirit, he heard people talking about it. Just like everywhere else, there was no name or photo of Lee Seo-jun here. There was only a picture of a table, a bell, and a shadow that appeared in the trailer.
Please enter the 9th hall if you want to watch the Evil Spirit!
Park Sung-won followed the staffs guidance and took his seat. Soon, the lights went off and fiery letters appeared on the screen.
Evil Spirit.
Soo-hyuk, who worked at an antique shop, bought a jewel box that looked expensive one day. He planned to sell it after cleaning it, but that was a mistake. An evil spirit came out of the jewel box and attached itself to Soo-hyuk.
The evil spirit caused all kinds of trouble with Soo-hyuks body. At first, it was a minor accident, but soon it set fire to the antique shop.
Soo-hyuk tried to exorcise the evil spirit by visiting churches, cathedrals, temples, and all sorts of places, but he couldnt even get a blessing, let alone help. The evil spirit even endangered the life of the pastor who tried to help him.
The pastor, who was taken away by an ambulance, gave Soo-hyuk a piece of paper in his hand. Soo-hyuk left with a determination to end it if this didnt work either.
And when he arrived at the village, he saw a little boy in a hanbok. The boy, who had an indifferent expression, looked at him with a creepy gaze and closed the door. Not long after, an old man came out and rented him a room.
And the next day, the old man who offered to take care of Soo-hyuks breakfast and walk with him brought up the story of the boy.
The boy, who was now seven years old, lost his parents to the evil spirit when he was four and received a divine revelation on the same day. He was doing some kind of practice at the request of the god. He didnt cry, laugh, or speak, and lived for three years. The old man who looked after the boys life was not his blood relative either.
Soo-hyuk saw the boy standing blankly in front of the shrine, staring at the tree. The boy shaman was the same age as Soo-hyuks nephew, who was a troublemaker, but he ate, prayed, and meditated without any expression.
The evil spirit wants your body, young man.
Soo-hyuks face hardened at the old mans words. And he tried to leave the village. There was no way that the little boy could beat this evil spirit.
A fight broke out between the evil spirit who wanted to stay in the village and Soo-hyuk who wanted to leave.
In the end, Soo-hyuk lost.
Late at night. The evil spirit broke into the boys house. There was the boy, who seemed to be waiting. Soo-hyuk grabbed the evil spirit and collapsed.
The night was filled with screams.
Soo-hyuk opened his eyes with a flash. The old man who was nursing him next to him smiled brightly.
Would you like to go with me to greet him?
Greet who?
Yes.
He followed the old man to the yard with a refreshed body. It had been a week since Soo-hyuk collapsed. He was hit not by the body but by the soul, so he was sure that he couldnt be treated at the hospital. He said he nursed him at home.
Im very grateful to you.
What?
The old man opened the big wooden gate with a smile. There.
Hi, Soo-hyuk hyung!
A little boy in a yellow kindergarten uniform with a backpack on his back smiled brightly and stood there. Soo-hyuk looked at the boy and the old man with a stunned face.
The evil spirit was exorcised and the god inside also used up his power. The god was not bad, but he gave a lot of burden to the child. Now this child will live normally like other children, laughing and crying. He can even go to kindergarten. Its all thanks to you.
No. No, its not.
He felt something surge up as he saw the boy holding his hand with a bright smile. The boy shaman who cried all night and fought the evil spirit was nowhere to be seen.
Soo-hyuk knelt down and looked into the boys eyes.
Hey, kid. Whats your name?
The boy smiled brightly at Soo-hyuks question.
Title: Is it just me, or did I really receive a divine blessing?
Author: I am a demon
I was honestly curious whether it was Seo-jun or not, but I think Ill watch it a few more times.
I was so impressed by his acting as William that I couldnt imagine him doing any other role, but I was such an idiot.
Ji-seoks possession acting was amazing, but Seo-juns shaman acting was even more incredible.
If Ji-seoks acting gave me the impression of split personality + alpha, Seo-juns acting made me feel like there was something real inside him.
When Seo-jun scanned Su-hyuk from head to toe, I felt like he could see through me and I got goosebumps.
And what can I say, after Seo-jun appeared, both Ji-seok and the movie seemed crazy.
Seo-jun seemed like he was harboring a god with a tremendous power, Ji-seok seemed like he was possessed by a real demon and fighting with it, and the direction and CG matched the surreal atmosphere and made it look realistic.
Anyway, it was awesome.
-Awesome. I didnt expect much, but it was awesome.
-Definitely, the movies mood changed when Seo-jun came out. If it was all human world fluff before Seo-jun, it was like this is the hidden world!! after he came out.
-The CG was awesome when they fought. I want to make gifs of it later.
And after the movie was released, the staff and related people who automatically had their secrecy lifted posted on SNS and the internet.
Photos of Seo-jun in casual clothes and photos of his signed paper were uploaded.
