Chapter 65: Dude...
"Who was that?" Mike questioned. She had pale skin, like a corpse walking around, unlike Ella\'s skin.
This made it hard for anyone not to notice her and Mike was a victim of that but then again, Mike was a man that had wandering eyes.
"That\'s Cleopatra. Ella\'s older sister," Jane responded, not thinking too much about his question as she didn\'t care if he was interested in her or not.
Cleopatra was far from a kind woman and it is believed she had a hand in her sister\'s drug addiction.
This was bad, the last thing they needed was her presence because Ella wasn\'t in the right frame of mind. Cleopatra always brought out the worst in her younger sister.
This had the potential to undo everything Ella worked so hard to accomplish.
"I\'m just glad you\'re okay, Jane," Mike chimed in prompting Jane to flash him a smile.
"I\'m thankful that you came, that was considerate of you. You\'re a good friend, Mike," Jane was quick to remind him of what he was to her.
She didn\'t want any lines blurred so there wouldn\'t be any misinterpretation.
"Friend, huh?" Mike thought to himself but he knew this was a temporary label or at least that\'s what he truly believed.
He moved in to hug Jane but from his peripheral vision, he caught a glimpse of someone staring right at them.
There was something familiar about this figure, Mike turned his head to look in that direction only to see Kyle standing there with a mocking smirk on his face like he knew exactly what Mike was thinking.
When the hell did he get here? He had no idea but he saw this as an opportunity to cause a rift in his relationship with Jane as he continued with his hug.
Kyle didn\'t attempt to do anything and simply watched, he wasn\'t one to get jealous of such trivial things but Jane didn\'t reciprocate his hug.
She awkwardly backed away, confused as to why he was trying to hug her in the first place.
"W-What are you doing…?" Jane questioned with an uneasy smile on her face.
"I just wanted to comfort you," Mike responded but at that moment, Jane saw Kyle and her face immediately brightened up.
"... Kyle!?" Jane exclaimed.
"I wanted to surprise you but it looks like you had company so I didn\'t want to impose," Kyle responded before spreading his arms apart.
Kyle didn\'t need to stay long at the construction site because Collins had everything under control.
"Miss me?" Kyle asked and without saying a word, Jane ran into his arms.
Kyle knew that Mike wanted her, he couldn\'t blame him because Jane was like a blank canvas that was yet to be imprinted.
There was no relationship trauma so he didn\'t need to worry about what an ex did or didn\'t do.
She hugged him tightly and Kyle\'s mocking smile remained on his face, looking right at Mike.
"I-I did!" Jane managed to respond and Mike felt sick to the stomach.
"Why the fuck are you acting this way in front of me…" Mike thought to himself, Jane was making him look like a disposable dog and he was beginning to believe that this was intentional.
"How\'s she? How\'re you? I tried to come earlier but I had some business to attend to," Kyle informed her.
Jane didn\'t care about any of that, what mattered to her was that he was here now.
"I\'m fine now…" Jane said, Kyle stroked her hair lovingly.
"I\'m glad to hear that…" The hug soon came to an end and Kyle approached Mike.
"I know you. Jane, is he a friend?" Kyle asked, indirectly making her introduce them.
"Yes, he is. Kyle, this is Mike. Mike, this is Kyle," Jane introduced them.
There was nothing suspicious about her body language so Kyle knew there was nothing going on between them but he also knew how dangerous a man that wanted a woman could become.
He needed to see if this Mike would become a threat to Jane in one way or another.
Kyle stretched his hand for a handshake, Mike knew he couldn\'t cause a scene so he took Kyle\'s hand to shake but what was this grip?
Mike didn\'t know what his deal was but Kyle was a strange man even though the grip didn\'t particularly hurt because of Kyle\'s physical strength.
"A good friend that is there in her time of need? Thank you for keeping her company in my absence Mike but I can take it from here," Kyle said sternly.
Mike knew opposing this would make him look bad and Jane wasn\'t even paying attention to the conversation.
Her eyes were focused on Kyle, he looked a lot different with that haircut and she literally couldn\'t take her eyes off him.
Before Mike could speak, Kyle redirected his full focus on Jane so even though he was to speak, it was of no concern to Kyle because as far as he was concerned.
That conversation was over and Mike just stood there, feeling like a clown.
Kyle dragged Jane and comforted her in his embrace.
"I guess I will be on my way…" Mike felt humiliated the moment these words left his lips.
But Jane quickly thanked him, she was so sweet and that was why Kyle knew he had to protect her from this predatory man before him.
She walked him to the door and they said their goodbyes before she returned to Kyle.
Kyle wanted to tell her about Mike\'s intention but he knew now wasn\'t the time.

"How\'s Ella?" Kyle asked, he noticed that Jane didn\'t answer him with Mike around and decided not to push it because there had to be a reason for that.
"She\'s better but I\'m worried about her now that her sister is here," Jane pointed out.
Kyle didn\'t know the significance of this encounter as one would think that having family around would be a good thing.
"Her sister? Shouldn\'t that be a good thing?" Kyle asked but the look on Jane\'s face gave him his answer.
"I guess not," Kyle answered himself.
Family was not always the solution, family often times were poisoned appendages you needed to sever to survive. Maybe that was the case with Ella.
But Ella wasn\'t his responsibility, Jane was.
"Have you eaten?" Kyle asked her but Jane shook her head to deny this.
"You should also take care of yourself or she would only end up worrying about you. How about it? Let\'s go get something to eat," Kyle suggested.
Ella was with her sister, he didn\'t know of their relationship but Jane needed to also look after herself.
Jane was hesitant, glancing multiple times in the direction where Ella\'s room was stationed.
"It is fine if you don\'t want to go, I could always get you something," Kyle suggested but Jane shook her head.
He was right, she needed to get something to eat and she could use this opportunity to get something for Ella to eat as well.
Kyle extended his arm and she grabbed it, her face flushed red. Kyle found it cute that he still had this effect on her even after they had kissed.

Mike was enraged, he couldn\'t believe that Kyle made him look so stupid.
How was Jane attracted to him? He was so arrogant.
He would have said it was because of his money but he knew that Jane wasn\'t that kind of girl.
If anything, the money would make the relationship more complicated.
He recalled his earlier conversation with Jane when they first met, she was never one to be wooed by a display of wealth.
He watched men approach her and fail, men that had money to burn and this was part of the reason he wanted her.
She was one of a kind, a lady who believed in hard work rather than being taken care of so what was it about Kyle?
There had to be something wrong with this man, no one could be this perfect but all of this didn\'t matter to him. All that mattered was getting Jane.
It was no longer just a thing of affection but pride, he could t wait to see the look on Kyle\'s face when he got Jane to do what she was doing with him.
Mike waited outside the hospital like a sociopath, he had taken the day off so there was no need to worry about going to work.
He didn\'t have to wait long because he saw Jane and Kyle exiting the hospital.
Seeing that only infuriated him but he noticed that they were walking on foot and thus, made it possible for him to follow them.
There was no need for Kyle to use his car considering the place they were going to was just down the street.
Mike stalked them but his eyes weren\'t on Jane, they were on Kyle.
