Chapter 246: Scorpion Beast Helmet
“Desert Shift!
This is a defense skill of the Sand Scorpion Beast, whenever it faces danger, it tunnels into the sand to escape.
“What to do? Watch it run away like this?” Song Jian looked regretfully where the Scorpion Beast dug a large hole, he couldn’t chase it into the sand.
“Hmph, it can’t stay beneath the sand indefinitely. Its skill also needs to cool down sometime!” Jierna snorted, flicking her ponytail, she ordered the two Red-tailed Beasts: “You two, track its trail, find where it comes out.”
After strolling around the big hole for a while, the two Red-tailed Beasts roared at Jierna before running toward the left.
“Follow them!” After Jierna finished speaking, she jumped onto one of the Red-tailed Beasts, riding it to follow the other one.
Although Song Jian owned a motorcycle, it couldn’t run smoothly through the desert, with his own two legs the only option, he trailed behind the two Red-tailed Beasts, eating their dust.
Because they were tracking the trace of the Sand Scorpion Beast, the Red-tailed Beasts weren’t moving very fast, which barely allowed Song Jian to keep up with them.
After running for about ten minutes, there was a noise from the front, and the Sand Scorpion Beast finally emerged from under the sand.
“Attack, its Vitality Points aren’t plenty anymore. Knock it down, we’ll share the loot!” Jierna shouted to Song Jian behind her, instantly wielding her battleaxe and lunging from the back of the Red-tailed Beast, leaping mid-air. “Die!” Jierna yelled fiercely in mid-air. Her battleaxe, with a whistling sound, swung towards the Sand Scorpion Beast.
Song Jian also charged at it. The ground quaked under his foot, and a sharp fang-shaped energy wave ripped through the sand, leaving a deep mark.
After using the “Desert Shift” skill, the Sand Scorpion Beast seemed very exhausted. Crawling in the sand for about ten minutes without air and against much resistance burned a few times more energy than usual, so when it came out, the Scorpion Beast was panting heavily.
Feeling the intense energy above its head, a look of annoyance flashed in the eyes of the Sand Scorpion Beast. It surprisingly rose its front body up, swinging the scorpion claw at mid-air Jierna.
Boom!
After the battleaxe and the Scorpion’s Claw collided, a loud boom followed by a shockwave rolled through, and the Sand Scorpion Beast retreated a few steps, surprise flashing in its eyes. It couldn’t believe that such a tiny figure could wield such immense power.
Just then, a sharp sound came from below. A fang-shaped energy wave hit one of its left legs hard.
With a “crack”, the “Earth Teeth Assault” triggered a critical hit and broke off one of the Scorpion Beast’s legs.
A wave of intense pain washed over the Sand Scorpion Beast, causing it to tilt towards the left, losing its balance and rolling over.
“Well done!” Jierna’s eyes shone. She shouted, stomping under her foot causing a giant pit, her body sprung up, swinging her battleaxe towards the Scorpion Beast’s stomach.
Splash-
The battleaxe easily ripped open the Scorpion Beast’s soft belly, a stinky thick green liquid splurted out from the wound, staining Jierna’s entire body green. The Scorpion Beast let out a series of frantic shrills. The Scorpion Tail swung from under its body, raising up high, a vivid red Scorpion hook launched towards Jierna’s back.
Buzz-
A soft trembling sound echoed through the air as a three-meter-long sword light swept across, chopping the scorpion tail into two pieces.
“Sword Silk!”
Three silver sword silks appeared out of nowhere from the surface of Song Jian’s body. After briefly probing the surroundings, they lashed out at the desert scorpion beast with a “swish”.
Thwack thwack thwack-
The three sword silks struck the shell of the desert scorpion beast like a whip, splitting three wounds over a meter long. Blood splattered around, tinting the surrounding sand green.
“Still not dead?” Jierna didn’t even glance at the scorpion tail behind her, continuously swinging her battle axe and hacking at the scorpion beast. The beast writhed crazily, stirring up a cloud of dust and sand that cloaked everything in chaos.
Jierna’s growling and the scorpion’s beast’s roar intertwined. The figure of the scorpion beast flickered in the dust, its thick green blood occasionally splattering out.
Soon, the movement of the desert scorpion beast gradually diminished. The dust settled, and next to a small sand dune, the beast collapsed onto the ground. Jierna stood atop the beast’s body, one foot stepping on its head, one hand holding the battle axe on her shoulder, looking at Song Jian.
“Impressive!” Song Jian gave Jierna a thumbs-up, loudly praising her.
Upon hearing Song Jian’s praise, a radiant smile spread across Jierna’s face.
“You did pretty well too. If it weren’t for you, I might have been seriously injured this time. This guy’s tail is no joke!” Jierna jumped off the massive body of the scorpion beast, delivering a hard kick to its corpse.
An invisible flame began to burn on the surface of the scorpion beast’s body, its enormous corpse sizzling in heat. A few items emitting a bluish-green glow emerged from its body.
Jierna carefully examined the items. She immediately separated one piece of blue equipment and two pieces of white-quality materials into one pile, and the remaining three green items into another pile. Then she said to Song Jian, “Let’s split the spoils. You pick first!”
Song Jian stepped forward to take a look. Among the two piles of spoils, there was only one piece of equipment, which was the blue item.
“Scorpion Beast Helmet (Blue): Helmet, Equipment Effect: Physical Defense + 8, Vision +3, Attack +10; Special Effect: Summoning Scorpion Beast (Passive), when damaged, there is a certain chance to summon a Desert Scorpion Beast Soul to assist in battle. The Desert Scorpion Beast Soul lasts for 180 seconds, this skill can only trigger once every sixty minutes. Equipment requirement: Level 13, Can it be taken out of the game: No.”
A level 13 helmet. Song Jian was only at level 12, he needed to level up once more to wear it. The remaining two items paired with the helmet were white-quality materials: “Scorpion Meat full of Fishy Smell” and “Broken Scorpion Shell”.
The former was a cooking material, the latter a forging material, both of not very high value.
The other pile held three green quality items which were three “Exquisite Scorpion Pearls”, their usage unknown. But if sold, each can fetch a thousand Doomsday Coins.
Song Jian glanced at them, then directly picked up the blue-quality helmet and the two white-quality materials. Jierna watched Song Jian, a mysterious smile playing at the corner of her mouth as she collected the three “Exquisite Scorpion Pearls”.
“Continue in this direction, and in about five or six kilometers, we should reach Kantelu Ruins. The Prayer Altar is there!” Jierna pointed in a direction across the desert.
Something clicked in Song Jian’s mind. The direction she was pointing to was where the pyramid was marked on the map. It seemed that the map he had found earlier was indeed the map of Kantelu Ruins.
