Chapter 282 - 282, Life Planning
Unexpectedly, the moment her fingers touched the box, Qu Yunyao suddenly let go of her hand, and then, the gift box quickly slipped and fell.
The living room floor was made of wood, and immediately, she heard a “clank” sound, accompanied by the noise of glass shattering.
Crash.
Then the whole living room fell silent.
Mo Weiyi was stunned.
So was Qu Yunyao.
A few seconds later, she looked up, disbelief plastered all over her face as she stared at Mo Weiyi, “Weiyi, did you dislike the gift I gave you that much?”
Mo Weiyi blinked her beautiful cat-like eyes, frowning, “What do you mean by that?”
“What happened?” Mo Yaoxiong had already walked over.
Mo Weiyi quickly explained, “I hadn’t actually gotten it yet. You let go first.”
“But I waited until Weiyi had a hold of it before I let go.” Qu Yunyao frowned, biting her pale pink lips, her expression and tone full of grievance, “I spent nearly five thousand yuan on this swan vase.”
Five thousand yuan was indeed a substantial amount for Qu Yunyao.
Mo Weiyi’s finely shaped brows wrinkled, “Is this about the money?”
Qu Yunyao watched her, suppressing her emotions as she squatted down and began to untie the bow on the gift box.
“Weiyi.” Mo Yaoxiong watched his daughter, “This is the gift Yunyao specifically bought for you. She handpicked it carefully for days, not knowing what to get you, and even specifically called me for advice…”
“Ah!”
A sharp scream suddenly interrupted Mo Yaoxiong’s words.
The gift box had been opened and the glass vase inside had shattered into pieces, and Qu Yunyao’s fingers seemed to be cut, with blood seeping out between her fingers.
Mo Weiyi couldn’t stand the sight of blood, so she quickly turned her face away.
“Are you okay?” The elder Mo was also worried.
“I’m fine, I accidentally cut my hand.” Qu Yunyao gritted out through the pain.
“Zhou Auntie, quickly bring the medical kit.”
After yelling for the maid, Mo Yaoxiong looked at Mo Weiyi and scolded, “Weiyi, can’t you be careful? Don’t you know Yunyao has to play the piano with those hands!”
“Dad?” Mo Weiyi stared incredulously at her father, “She’s the one who cut her own hand, why are you blaming me?”
“Would she have got cut if you had been careful when taking the box?”
Mo Weiyi couldn’t help but sigh with a laugh.
Raising her head, alluring passion lit in her eyes, “Dad, why don’t you ask the seller, why is this thing so easy to break? After all, Yunyao spent five thousand, why didn’t they pack it well?”
Mo Yaoxiong was left speechless by her retort, “You…”
“Uncle Mo,” Qu Yunyao intervened in a timely manner, “it’s not Weiyi’s fault, she’s right. It was my fault for not asking the shopkeeper to pack it better. It was my fault for not being careful earlier and got cut by the glass, it has nothing to do with Weiyi.”
This understanding behavior made Mo Yaoxiong immediately glance at his daughter again.
“But the gift is gone, Weiyi. I will get you another one later,” Qu Yunyao continued.
“No need.” Mo Weiyi replied lazily, a casual tone slippingoff her tongue, “Just don’t hurt yourself again, or else my dad will blame me again.”
Mo Yaoxiong’s face immediately turned red, “Weiyi! What nonsense are you speaking!”
Mo Weiyi grunted and sat down, ignoring her father with an indifferent look.
“Stop arguing.” The elder Mo said, “It’s rare that my granddaughter comes home for dinner, if there’s anymore noise, all of you get out!”
The living room finally fell silent, and no one spoke.
It wasn’t until the maid brought over the medical kit and helped Qu Yunyao with her wound.
Qu Yunyao sat there, let out a pained groan when her finger was touched with iodine.
Frown lines deepened as she exclaimed again and again, non-stop.
To Mo Weiyi, this was so dramatic. It was just a small cut, but the way she screamed made it sound like she was doing it on purpose for all to hear.
Finally, after all her wounds had been treated, Aunt Zhou said, “It’s okay, the cut wasn’t deep. Just avoid water, and it will heal in a couple of days.”
Old Master Mo sighed relieved, “That’s good.”
Qu Yunyao also chuckled brightly, “Thankyou, Aunt Zhou.”
The next second.
“That is, I have not finished editing a third of my boyfriend’s script, and the progress will be delayed again…”
Mo Yaoxiong sighed, “Don’t worry about work, your hand is injured so don’t push yourself.”
Qu Yunyao obediently nodded.
Mo Yaoxiong’s sharp eyes unavoidably locked on his daughter again and he suddenly stood up, “Weiyi, come with me to the study.”
After Mo Weiyi followed her father out, Qu Yunyao looked at the white gauze wrapped around her hand, her lips spreading into a barely noticeable smirk.
**
Inside the serious and tidy study.
Mo Yaoxiong sat behind his dark desk, looking sternly at his daughter.
“Weiyi, since your foot is already healed, starting from next week, go to school and take your classes. No unexplained absences or early leaves, understood?”
Mo Weiyi pouted, “I understand.”
Although she disliked going to class.
“And,” Mo Yaoxiong continued, “I’ve always felt that, as a father, my expectations for you have been too low. Your mother passed away early, so I’ve always felt like I owe her and couldn’t bare to be hard on you. But now you’re twenty, and it’s time to plan for your life.”
“Dad, what do you mean by this?” Mo Weiyi didn’t understand.
