Chapter 86 Retribution Pt. 2
Chapter 86 Retribution Pt. 2
She said a silent thank you to Lailah.
It looked like all her time spent mastering this spell was not going to be in vain.
Lisa unfurled her wings from her back before she disappeared from where she stood in a burst of lightning.
Atticus was a good distance away when he suddenly felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up and just barely managed to avoid a slash from Lisa that would've decapitated him had he been even a millisecond slower.
The knight was utterly horrified to see that not only had she caught up to him with ease, but the power flowing from her was much more overwhelming than before.
'Is this really Lisa?'
He could not fathom how she had become such a monster in such a period of time.
She suddenly disappeared from his vision and appeared above him, unleashing a rain of quick spear thrusts like a goddess of lightning.
Atticus' nightmare only worsened when he realized that not only was this enemies speed increased, her strength had grown monstrously as well.
Each time he defended against her blows his arms trembled so terribly he believed his bones would shatter.
"Blade onslaught!"
Attticus' sword began to glow with a vibrant blue light as he unleashed his most powerful sword technique.
He no longer cared about escape, he couldn't even think about aftermath.
His years of knight training kicked in and all he cared about was killing his enemy before she killed him.
With a swing of his sword, Atticus unleashed countless arcs of energy from multiple directions.
What he saw next made him completely lose all hope.
His attack connected, and cleaved the beautiful woman in pieces from every direction.
Left, right, up, down she was cut from every angle imaginable.
So why was there no blood?
Instead Lisa's body parts were connected by strands of electricity.
It was almost like… lightning body?
'But that would mean…'
"You… you had an affinity this whole time?"
Lisa gave the man before her a pitying look.
"No."
"Then how do you have it now?!" He roared.
She pondered for a moment before responding with a warm smile.
"My husband's grace."
Suddenly, thunderclouds pooled from every direction above Lisa's head.
Atticus watched as an enormous bolt of lightning fell onto Lisa's body.
There was a small explosion and a cloud of smoke before Lisa was revealed in her true glory.
She was about half the size of Exedra, yet she was much more majestic and captivating.
Her long serpentine-like body was covered in glimmering cyan blue scales with jagged amber spikes running down her back.
Her large and imposing wings crackled with wild electricity.
With a roar, her eyes changed into a blinding white and the clouds surrounding her thrummed again before they came to life.
Bolts of lightning dropped down from the sky and circled her majestic body before they merged and changed shape.
Miniature eastern style dragons roared alongside their creator as they danced in their majestic light show.
Seeing the overwhelming beauty and raw power on display, Exedra was falling in love with his wife all over again.
Such an awe inspiring display also solicited a tear of appreciation from Bekka as she admired her friend's battle from atop a pile of bodies.
"Filios meos pasce!"
At Lisa's dominant command, her summoned dragon's ceased their dance and turned their focus to a trembling Atticus.
One by one, each of her summoned children dove headfirst towards him.
He opened his mouth, perhaps to beg for his life or maybe because he believed he could still sway the dragoness in front of him with sweet words as he did so many years before.
The words would never reach Lisa's ears as Atticus was continually struck by torturous bolts of lightning.
His screams rang out throughout the night, making his suffering known to any being who could hear.
His evolved body did not seem to be providing any shields from the immense pain he felt as he was eaten by lightning.
His anguish lasted for only a few seconds before his screams slowly lost their intensity and the light left his eyes.
Lisa let out a roar from the depths of her soul to declare her victory.
As buildings around her crumbled from the sound waves, another bolt of lightning struck her body and she re-emerged once again in her human body.
Suddenly, she was hugged from behind by a man whose presence she knew very well.
"How do you feel?"
Exedra's words sent shudders down her spine as she leaned into his embrace.
"Like I am free."
"I am so proud of you."
Like that the two shared a warm kiss in the city filled with death as they celebrated a closed chapter and their new beginnings.
-
After Exedra and his wives returned, a small detachment arrived at the city surrounded by ice.
The one leading the twelve men was a tall man clad in white and gold robes.
"Father this.."
"Stand back."
The soldier obeyed him and the man held out his palm.
He chanted a few words under his breath and a blade of golden light appeared on his hand.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM
With a single swipe of the air, the man cleaved through Exedra's seemingly impenetrable wall of ice and the men hesitantly ventured inside the city.
What they saw was a hell unlike any other.
A city corroded by smoldering black and purple flames with fields of dead lay before them.
The men began scrambling to search for survivors but the ones they did find attacked them as if they were rabid.
It was then that they examined the bodies closer and realized that all of the dead appeared to have died in conflict with each other and not an outside force.
The man in the white robes simmered with anger as he thought of what unspeakable creature could've unleashed this horror.
"Your holiness, what should we do?"
The man pondered for a long time as he stared at the corpses of a family in front of him.
"Summon the Angel."
