Immortal of the Ages

Chapter 533: Spirit Attribute Seed of Creation!

Chapter 533: Spirit Attribute Seed of Creation!

"Is he the first Spirit attribute Seed of Creation we've encountered?" Yun Xiao raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, indeed rare," Blue Star licked his lips. "I'm curious what his soul vessel really is; it's rather peculiar."

"We'll meet him again," Yun Xiao said.

Thinking of this man, and then of Miss Yu, Lu An, and Lu Yao... Yun Xiao shook his head.

"Making a fortune and then abandoning his wife and children, what kind of man does that?"

Yun Xiao was speechless. He didn't dwell on it further, turning back to join Sun Xiaoqi.

"Feeling any signs of transcendence?" Sun Xiaoqi asked.

"I've already transcended," Yun Xiao smiled. "When we return to Sky Soaring City, I'll treat you to a meal."

"You transcended?" Sun Xiaoqi was shocked. "How? What did you desire?"

"I am a lecher, so I thought to go out and see more beauties," Yun Xiao said.

"Damn," Sun Xiaoqi clutched her breastplate and stepped back, her face a mask of disbelief.

"Relax, you're safe." Yun Xiao chuckled.

"Get lost." Sun Xiaoqi puckered her lips and glared. She knew Yun Xiao was just joking.

The two lingered by the city gates.

As dawn broke, Sangju City stirred to life. But the city's guards had already mobilized; they had sealed the city the night before, and now no one could leave.

The citizens were baffled. Amid their confusion, the news that three Arbiters had been hanged at the city gates could not be contained. It spread like wildfire throughout the city.

The Arbiters had been slain by a murderer!

This news terrified the people, and panic spread throughout the city, throwing it into chaos.

During this turmoil, Lu Changfeng had no choice but to step forward and reassure the citizens publicly, announcing that the Skyruler Immortal Manor was taking the murders in Sangju City very seriously, and new Arbiters would arrive soon.

He even promised the people that by dawn the next day, the true culprit would be exposed!

And so, Sangju City was finally calmed.

Yet beneath the surface, currents of unrest still swirled.

At the peak of daylight, when the Celestial Sourcecore's power was immense, Yun Xiao, finding himself running low on True Immortal Jades, took the opportunity to use the last of it to consolidate his cultivation.

Just as noon approached, the eagerly awaited reinforcements arrived!

The sound of the Skyruler Sword Vessels tearing through the sky interrupted Yun Xiao’s meditation.

The newcomers arrived with grandeur. Lu Changfeng cast a cold glance towards Yun Xiao, who, sensing the significance, joined Sun Xiaoqi to greet them.

With a clangorous echo, 11 Skyruler Sword Vessels descended from the heavens, embedding themselves into the rocky terrain before Sangju City.

As the doors opened, 11 Arbiters stepped out with a presence so formidable it subdued the entire assembly. Their deep aura and powerful demeanor commanded respect, particularly from the lesser officials of Sangju City led by Lu Qian.

Lu Qian, the originator of the disasters, tensed with recognition of the arrivals.

"Indeed, it’s Jiang Lanyue and his team," Sun Xiaoqi muttered, shrinking back in fear.

"Jiang Lanyue?" Yun Xiao looked over and saw among them a young man at the center, whose demeanor was more righteous than Lu Changfeng, yet his eyes were colder, suggesting deeper schemes.

“Remember, the governor of Sky Soaring City is surnamed Jiang.”

This indicated that this Jiang Lanyue was very likely from the ruling family of the city, and an Arbiter as well.

In terms of rank, he was comparable to Lu Changfeng. However, the ten he brought with him were significantly stronger than the five Arbiters accompanying Lu Changfeng, mostly at the Establishment True Immortal Realm, nearing the Essence Manifestation Realm!

“Lanyue!” Lu Changfeng and his followers stepped forward to meet them.

“Changfeng.” Jiang Lanyue advanced, glancing at Sangju City, and spoke, “I’ve nearly grasped the specifics of the trouble here through the flying talisman. Do you have a plan now?”

Lu Changfeng surveyed the surroundings and said, “Let’s step aside to discuss.”

Jiang Lanyue nodded.

Together with Lu Qian, they headed towards the city gates.

Yun Xiao, Sun Xiaoqi, and the ten Arbiters remained where they were.

"You two are the weakest; how come you're not dead yet?" a female Arbiter scoffed with a chilly laugh.

"Well... the killer only takes out three each night," Sun Xiaoqi replied with an awkward smile.

"Then maybe tonight it'll be your turn," the female Arbiter said.

Laughter broke out among her comrades, who seemed quite at ease.

While talking, they gave Yun Xiao a few assessing glances.

"I hear you snagged the team leader position from Zhao Cheng, infuriating him so much he got isolated and killed?" the female Arbiter asked.

"The position was given by Deputy Changfeng," Yun Xiao replied earnestly.

Their laughter erupted again.

...▬ι══🪦✧⚰️✧🪦══ι▬

In the distance, Lu Changfeng, Lu Qian, and Jiang Lanyue stood with grim expressions.

"Changfeng, three Arbiters are dead. Even if you manage to catch the true culprit, it's still going to affect your promotion to Rank 8," Jiang Lanyue said, shaking his head.

"Nothing to be done at this point but to try and fix it as best as we can." Lu Changfeng sighed.

"Tell me the truth, were those nine people and the three Arbiters killed by the same person?" Jiang Lanyue asked sternly. "If you don't tell the truth, I can't help you."

Lu Changfeng clenched his teeth.

Lu Qian lowered her head.

"Alright, I know you've made a mess of things, and now you've been outplayed," Jiang Lanyue slapped Lu Changfeng on the head. "Learn your lesson!"

"It's my fault. The young master was just trying to help me," Lu Qian quickly admitted in shame.

"Useless!" Jiang Lanyue glared at Lu Qian before turning back to Lu Changfeng. "There's no point in assigning blame now. Just tell me, do you have any suspects?"

"Yes!" Lu Changfeng said.

"Who?" Jiang Lanyue asked.

"Lu Yao," Lu Changfeng stated confidently.

Jiang Lanyue and Lu Qian both paused, then turned their gazes towards Yun Xiao in the distance.

"Are you certain?" Jiang Lanyue asked.

"I mean, he might not be capable himself, but he definitely has someone behind him. And this person, they're looking to trouble me," Lu Changfeng said coldly.

Jiang Lanyue furrowed his brow. "Without evidence, it’s tough to pin everything on an Arbiter."

"So, did you bring it? The Heartburn Gu!" Lu Changfeng inquired.

"I did. Cost me a good deal of celestial jade," Jiang Lanyue replied.

"How much? I'll pay you now," Lu Changfeng said.

"Let's settle it later. What's your plan with it?" Jiang Lanyue asked.

"Feed it to Lu Yao. Let him endure the agony of his heart burning without dying, to force whoever's behind him to show themselves," Lu Changfeng declared.

"Are you sure there's someone behind him?" Jiang Lanyue questioned.

"I'm certain," Lu Changfeng paused. "By himself, he couldn't have taken down Zhao Cheng."

"On what basis are you so sure?" Jiang Lanyue pressed.

"Just trust me on this." Lu Changfeng couldn’t reveal that Lu Yao was an imposter likely backed by an organization, so he resorted to a firm stance.

"Alright," Jiang Lanyue, ever cautious, pondered a moment. "But most importantly, what if the person behind him is stronger than us, and we can’t capture him? Wouldn’t that be dangerous?"

"The three of us are at the Essence Manifestation Realm; surely that suffices?" Lu Changfeng paused, then added, "If it comes to it, we'll just throw Lu Yao into a magic formation. We won't show ourselves. If the opponent proves too powerful, we’ll just record their identity with a Projection Orb and let the Skyruler Immortal Manor handle it."

Jiang Lanyue nodded. "That could work. Even if it’s a strong figure, just appearing here uninvited, even if they didn’t kill Zhao Cheng, we can still pin it on them."

"It won't be that complicated. We can probably take them down and close the case," Lu Changfeng said coldly.

"So you're that sure it has something to do with Lu Yao?" Jiang Lanyue asked, pursing his lips.

"Certain!" Lu Changfeng nodded.

"Your reason?"

"A man's precise intuition!" Lu Changfeng concluded with a smirk. "Even if this person doesn’t show, Lu Yao’s poor judgment led to the deaths of three comrades. Punishing him a bit won’t hurt, right? Besides, he doesn’t even know what a Heartburn Gu is."

"So we move tonight? I’ll prepare the formation." Lu Qian, too, was eager to resolve the matter.

Jiang Lanyue pondered for a moment and finally nodded. "We’ve already bought the Gu, let’s do it!"
