Chapter 459: A Pair of Fiends Reclaimed by the Heavens!
"Lian Xi!"
The defenders who stood by Lian Xi, clad in white robes, wept blood and tears as their rage erupted like molten lava. With the shattering of the Primordial Pagoda, they were left with no retreat. To step back was to plunge into a hell of blood and fire.
"Save her!"
With a cry of sorrow and fury, they soared into the skies, white robes billowing and immortal power bursting forth, chasing after the Mystic Earth Immortal.
"Are these fiend's minions still refusing to see reason? Where are the guardians of justice?" the Mystic Earth Immortal coldly proclaimed.
"To protect the Three Immortals, to slaughter the disaster's hounds!"
Hearing this, the crowd's eyes blazed with fury. Millions, stirred by a righteous fervor, charged forth, forming a flesh barrier in front of those in white robes.
"Brethren, hand in hand, let's build a wall of life to protect the true way of heaven and earth!"
Moved to tears by the descendants of the Three Immortals, the beings of the Primordial Ruins joined hands, creating a vast human net to shield from those in white.
One by one, these nets formed a barricade. Behind it stood countless people, their courage and spirit of sacrifice moving them to tears, as they roared in defiance.
"For the peace of all worlds for generations to come, I am willing to die!"
"Kill me! Behind my corpse, stand millions more like me!"
"Come then, kill!"
Their roars, filled with desperation and determination, echoed. Clasping the hands of their comrades, they advanced towards those in white, their sheer numbers forming an iron cage that trapped them in place.
"Sister, let's fight our way through!" Yun Dahe's face twisted in agony as he roared, his mind nearly exploding with rage.
"They are but hosts to parasites, their wills overtaken, innocent..." Dean Yu was not one to hesitate. Her resolve was steel when she faced Yuan Xianjun and his ilk, showing no mercy.
But facing these mind-controlled civilians of the Primordial Ruins, who could truly call for blood without a tremble in their heart?
Above them all, the laughter of the Mystic Earth Immortal rang out, unbridled and mocking.
To him, Dean Yu and her companions were never truly contenders. The gulf between them was too vast; perhaps, in his eyes, the game had ended with the destruction of the Primordial Pagoda.
The dismantling of the Primordial Pagoda, despite the long preparation, proved effortless. Far easier than the trials within the Immortal Asylum or the ventures into the Blood Devil Ruins.
"Invincibility brings its own solitude," the Mystic Earth Immortal murmured with a sigh.
Where once the Primordial Pagoda stood, now there was but a fleshly sphere, encapsulating tens of thousands who faced death with defiance. Within, the so-called adversary was pitifully weak and despondent, a sight too pathetic for words.
"Dull!" His gaze shifted to the girl within the sphere of white light, her integration interrupted and wounded. She lay there, pale and barely breathing, as pitiful as a sickly white cat.
"Life is as fleeting as duckweed, of what use is it to be chosen by fate? In this realm, we Three Immortals are the heavens!" he declared, laughing coldly.
"Another little monster?"
His gaze turned colder still as he locked onto Yun Xiao.
"Hmm?" He noticed the young man being consumed by the fire of decay. Amidst the gold and silver flames, his eyes, cold and indifferent as the decrees of fate, stared back unwaveringly.
"What sins has this boy committed to suffer such a potent doom? Without laying a finger on him, he's already on the brink. Amusing..." The Mystic Earth Immortal smirked.
At that moment, Yun Xiao took a step forward. Boom! The power of Heavenly Decay swirled madly towards him, fueling the inferno that ravaged his flesh, bones, and skin. His skin aged, turned to ash at a visible pace, emitting thick black smoke as deadly flames shot up a hundred feet high.
"Such fatal decay would have killed anyone else several times over by now," the Mystic Earth Immortal mused, still smirking at the spectacle, aware that Yun Xiao's self-destruction could not last.
As expected, Yun Xiao took ten more steps towards him.
"Hey, hey, hey, what the hell! He's lost it, gone mad!" Blue Star, who had attempted to hold Yun Xiao back, was completely dumbfounded.
Just a few steps had ignited flames reaching a hundred feet; to dare ten more was unthinkable.
"Uh oh…!!" Red Moon said, tongue lolling, looking up at the sky.
In that tumultuous moment, the sky itself seemed to rupture with a deafening explosion that left everyone staggered, seeing stars, as if a sack of steel had smacked them on the back of their heads, noses bleeding profusely.
They looked up in shock to see a massive hole blasted open in the heavens, as if the sky had exploded. Around this gaping void, tens of thousands of fissures spread across the sky, painting a picture of devastation.
From the dark red abyss and its fissures, blood-red rain began to fall, as if heralding a celestial catastrophe.
Suddenly, a terrifying presence descended upon the Primordial Ruins, flattening nearly everyone but the Mystic Earth Immortal to the ground, whether they were lying, kneeling, or sprawling!
"What's this?" The Mystic Earth Immortal furrowed his brow deeply.
Another thunderous noise echoed.
With the sound, a several hundred-meter-long, blood-colored hand reached out from the hole.
For a moment, every soul in the ruins trembled in fear.
Through the bloody mist, they could just make out a colossal shadow behind the void, several thousand meters tall, with shoulders adorned by five fearsome, fanged heads. Each of the fingers extending from the hand had an eye on it!
"What in the world is this..."
Tens of millions witnessed this scene, struck dumb.
Their astonishment proved that, despite being under the sway of the All-Life Devouring Gu, they retained their sense of self, capable of surprise and shock.
"An order has been given, to sweep away the anomaly, to maintain the order of the Dao."
As the inhabitants of the Primordial Ruins stood dazed, a booming voice filled the air, leaving everyone bewildered.
Then, the blood-colored hand swept down, accurately seizing a young man engulfed by the fire of decay. Encased as if by mountains formed of fingers, he was gripped tightly, unable to move.
"Swept clean!" The thunderous roar echoed through the heavens as the giant hand, after making its declaration, retracted back into the bloody void, and the colossal figure with five heads vanished into thin air.
Crackling and buzzing, the shattered sky began to mend itself, as if by magic. In moments, neither crack nor hole remained, replaced by a clear, bright expanse.
The onlookers were stunned, as if they had witnessed an illusion. Aside from bleeding ears, they were largely unaffected.
Then, the crowd noticed the only change.
"The fiend has been taken!"
"Hahaha!"
"It proves the old saying true; the wicked will be swept away by heaven!"
"Heaven's intervention confirms that this murderer was a dire plague upon the world!"
"Justice served!"
After the fall of Lian Xi, this was the second piece of great news today, even more dramatic, validating the righteousness of some. It sparked a frenzied celebration among the masses.
"A pair of fiends, both reclaimed by heaven!"
"To see the murderer smitten by divine wrath, and then the calamity bearer endure eternal fire, what a delight!"
From the gleeful and relieved looks among the crowd, it was clear: it was all over.
Yun Xiao might have been a beacon of hope for Dean Yu and others. But this catastrophic event struck them with renewed force, shattering any lingering hopes in the harsh reality of their situation.
"Dean Yu, it's time to flee, leave this place, never to return…" an elder in white robes cried.
"Silence!" Dean Yu's eyes blazed red.
"The minions of those fiends think to flee? Brothers, exterminate them!"
"To arms!"
The jubilant crowd surged forward again, driven by a frenzied desire for vengeance.
Under the watch of the sun and moon, mists rose over the Primordial Ruins, and tens of millions of contorted faces screamed in celebration, heralding the era they longed for.
