Legend of Dragon Son-in-law

Chapter 325: 325 Sudden Incident_1

Stanislaus Potter and Miguel Abbott, who had hurried back from Gonzalez City, were drinking.

Ever since the incident with Richard occurred, Stanislaus Potter had become thoroughly convinced by Julius Reed, so much so that he had completely let go of even the matter of his son’s broken legs.

He was a shrewd man and knew that continuing the fight would lead to his downfall and losing everything.

During this period, as Julius Reed’s spokesperson in Five-river Province, Miguel Abbott made frequent contact with Stanislaus Potter, reaching cooperation on many matters.

“Mr. Abbott, what exactly did Mr. Reed mean today?”

Stanislaus Potter picked up his glass and pondered for a moment, “Could it be that we took the initiative, trying to please him excessively, only to end up kissing up to the wrong end of a horse?”

They had not informed Julius Reed about the investment in Radcliffe Group, acting entirely on their own accord.

However, it was a company controlled by Julius Reed’s wife, and they had done so solely to express their stance.

“Impossible!”

Miguel Abbott waved his hand, outright rejecting Stanislaus Potter’s thought: “Mr. Reed absolutely adores his wife! And do you think Mr. Reed wouldn’t know about our actions? Why then would he choose the last moment to stop us?”

Through their recent interactions, Miguel Abbott had come to roughly grasp Julius Reed’s preferences.

Despite being young and surrounded by beautiful women, Julius Reed had never been swayed, showing disdain for getting involved with such women.

Moreover, every time he talked about Quella Radcliffe, his eyes shone with affection and happiness.

It was a feeling that came from the heart and was not feigned.

Furthermore, Julius Reed had countless spies by his side. He had been able to thoroughly investigate matters like Richard pretending to be the illegitimate son of Stanislaus Potter; how could they possibly hope to conceal their intention to scout the Radcliffe Group from Julius Reed?

“Or is it possible that Mr. Reed was deliberately sending us a message?”

Stanislaus Potter had a habit of thinking of the worst in every situation, as it prepared him to make plans for the worst-case scenarios.

The success of Golden Eagle Group today was not separate from his sense of crisis.

“Brother Stanislaus, you’re overestimating the two of us and underestimating Mr. Reed,”

Miguel Abbott raised his glass with a smile: “By our own merits, we wouldn’t even catch Mr. Reed’s eye.”

“I’ve learned a lot from drinking with you today, Brother Abbott. With that, I’ll head back to the office and we can get together another day!”

Stanislaus Potter picked up the jacket hanging on a nearby chair, his face slightly flushed, “This liquor’s good; send two bottles my way some time.”

“Rare for you to ask, Brother Stanislaus—I’ll send you a whole case!”

Miguel Abbott also stood up to put on his clothes and whispered into Stanislaus Potter’s ear: “My people checked, and this morning, the chairman of the Radcliffe Group appeared at the company’s entrance, waiting for us. She had to leave because of some matters, and then we received that call.”

To claim indifference about the morning’s events would be a lie.

Miguel Abbott had already sent people to investigate on his way back, trying to surmise Julius Reed’s thoughts.

It wouldn’t matter even if such activity were to be discovered.

“Brother, are you suggesting that…”

Stanislaus Potter’s eyebrows raised, sensing an underlying message in Miguel Abbott’s words.

“I am not suggesting anything! It’s just that I’ve heard, well… that the Radcliffe Family had quite the opposition towards Mrs. Reed in the past. Heh, it’s getting late; let me walk you out!”

Miguel Abbott’s words, only half-spoken, allowed Stanislaus Potter to guess the gist of it based on his own intuition.

The two did not dwell further and headed straight downstairs.

“Brother Abbott, you truly had a unique foresight back then. If I’d been as obstinate as you were because of your daughter, both of us might have been struck off the register in Five-river Province by today,”

Walking on the marble floors of “Pearl of Water,” draped in his suit, Stanislaus Potter couldn’t stop reflecting.

The Leopold Family’s plot, and he had been used; as a result, his son had both legs broken, and Harlan Potter died a tragic death.

Even Golden Eagle Group had once faced the crisis of collapse.

“Let’s put the past behind us. Trust me, Mr. Reed is a very magnanimous person. Starting today…”

“Boss, watch out!”

Whoosh!

As the two were conversing, a figure suddenly flashed past, knocking Stanislaus Potter and Miguel Abbott to the ground.

“Austin Yarrow, what the hell are you doing!”

By the time Stanislaus Potter realized what was happening, he saw that the figure was Austin Yarrow, one of his close bodyguards from the Seven Guardians.

Whiz! Whiz! Whiz!

Before Austin Yarrow could explain, a violent barrage of darts erupted from the trees ten meters away.

The firelight was particularly glaring against the dark night.

The Pearl on the Water was secluded, and unless someone from the hotel rushed over, no one would notice.

“Boss, they’ve got numbers, and they’re all armed. Get out of here first!”

Austin Yarrow roared in a low voice.

“My people will get here!”

The ordeal had sobered Miguel Abbott, and to be assassinated right at his doorstep seemed brazen.

Boom!

But just then, a gas explosion occurred on the first floor of the Pearl on the Water!

The blast shattered all the glass on the entire first floor with a towering inferno!

Shortly afterward, a group burst out from the lobby, led by Allen, the head of Miguel Abbott’s personal bodyguards.

“Boss, someone in the hotel detonated the gas tanks, get out of here quick!”

Allen and his men ran up, gasping for breath.

“We’re done for!”

Miguel Abbott slapped his thigh as he sat on the ground, “We’re surrounded on both sides, who the hell is doing this!”

“Escort the two bosses to safety!”

With a wave of Austin Yarrow’s hand, the remaining men immediately helped Miguel Abbott and Stanislaus Potter up and quickly made their way to the ground-level parking lot.

There were three emergency off-road vehicles parked above, ready for quick evacuation in case of emergencies.

“Mr. Potter, who could be behind such a big move! They really want us dead!”

Miguel Abbott watched the huge fire consuming the first floor of the Pearl on the Water, his hands clenched tightly.

Fortunately, Ives Abbott and Lory Shaw were not here.

“Let’s get to a safe place first!”

Stanislaus Potter pulled out his phone, hoping to call his trusted people.

But after glancing at it, he threw it forcefully to the ground, “What a move, they’ve even jammed signals in such a wide area!”

It was only at this moment that the two realized their assailants truly intended to kill them.

The car sped away, and the sounds of darts firing faded until they vanished altogether.

“Nowhere is safe right now, better head downtown where there are more people and cars, and we can hide better. Plus, they won’t dare to cause a huge scene in the city, for fear of government accountability!”

Miguel Abbott directed the driver toward the city.

They hadn’t gone far when the lead car suddenly stopped.

“Damn it!”

The moment the car stopped, Miguel Abbott knew they were in trouble.

What terrified them even more was seeing the vehicle’s front end slowly rise, then the entire car levitated!

Underneath the car stood a man whose face they couldn’t see, but it sent chills down their spines.

What kind of person could lift a car?

Boom!

The man then hurled the car forcefully, flipping it over in the middle of the road.
