Destined with You

Chapter 388: 393 Never Laughed

Gu Qingxin looked at the little boy in front of her, his big eyes filled with innocence. Her heart tightened; this beautiful and adorable child was unable to speak.

Gu Qingxin squatted down, level with the little boy, a brilliant smile spreading across her face. “So your name is Beiming Yi, that’s a good name. I’m Gu Qingxin, it’s nice to meet you.”

Gu Qingxin reached out a hand to him.

Beiming Yi stared at the hand extended towards him, glanced at his own dirty small hand, and then hung his head, unmoving.

Gu Qingxin smiled and grasped his wrist, placing his tiny hand in her palm and holding it. “Nice to meet you. Now, we’re friends.”

Upon hearing her words, Beiming Yi reached out to touch Gu Qingxin’s face.

“Young Master Yi, this is quite impolite!” Lieyan immediately attempted to pull Beiming Yi’s hand back.

“It’s okay, he is only touching my face because he likes me. Don’t always stop him.” Gu Qingxin took Beiming Yi’s hand and placed it on her own face, letting him touch it.

A pure smile graced Beiming Yi’s lovely little face.

“Young Master Yi smiled!” Lieyan observed with surprise, as if witnessing an incredible event.

“Really? Does he seldom smile?” Gu Qingxin looked at him, puzzled.

“Young Master Yi can’t speak and doesn’t know how to interact with people. He has never smiled since birth.” Lieyan explained.

Looking at the delicate young face before her, Gu Qingxin felt a sadness welling up within her, even causing her eyes to sting.

She couldn’t imagine a child never smiling. How empty and void his world must be.

Gu Qingxin took Beiming Yi to a water pipe and carefully helped him wash his hands. Lieyan immediately handed over a handkerchief and Gu Qingxin used it to dry the boy’s clean hands.

From a window upstairs, Beiming Han watched this scene, a shadowy glimmer in his eyes.

“Master, the old master summons you.” Ye Qi walked over and said.

Beiming Han cast one final look at the pair downstairs before turning away.

In the study.

Beiming Lingyun held a photo in his hands, wondering why, upon entering the room and seeing Qingxin in a cheongsam for the first time, it reminded him so much of Xiao Qian…

Beiming Han walked into the room, and Beiming Lingyun quickly stowed the photo away.

“Any leads on the person I asked you to search for?” Beiming Lingyun asked with urgency in his tone.

“Still searching.” Beiming Han replied coolly.

Taking in his words, a disappointment that Beiming Lingyun couldn’t disguise flitted through his eyes. He had been searching for so many years, but there hadn’t been a spot of news. Maybe he would carry this regret to his grave.

After much effort, Gu Qingxin found a few foxtail grasses in a corner of the Jade Garden, and wove it into an adorable little rabbit to give to Beiming Yi.

Beiming Yi, seeing the lifelike little creature, took it happily, lighting up his face with a smile.

“This is a little rabbit, if there’s no one to play with Xiao Yi in the future, you can let it accompany you.” Gu Qingxin explained.

Beiming Yi laughed happily, nodding vigorously.

A maid ran over, complaining in frustration, “Young Master Yi, why did you run off again, made me look for you for so long!”

“He didn’t run about, I brought him here. Don’t blame him.” Gu Qingxin stood and defended him.

“Insolent, you are a servant, how dare you chastise young master!” Lieyan scolded disapprovingly.
