Who Let Him Cultivate?!

Chapter 33 - 32 Ginseng Baby_i

Objectively speaking, toiling in the medicinal garden is indeed a fine strategy. By practicing the magic skill of “Earth Shrinking”, one could also learn about herbs and make up for one’s lack of knowledge in this area. It’s a win-win situation.

Lu Yang hypnotized himself to accept the task of taking the earthworms’ place in burrowing into the ground. As he thought about it, something occurred to him—earthworms should be of indeterminate sex.

“Why do earthworms have spouses?”

Uncle Ba explained: “Earthworms in the mortal world don’t differentiate between male and female, but that’s indicative of lowly creatures. No offense meant. Intelligent earthworms that can transform do have distinct sexes. In particular, the Silver Ring King Worm is the king among earthworms and deeply suppresses all others in kinship.

“I see. Please continue.”

Uncle Ba continued: “With the Silver Ring King Worm couple, loosening the soil was no problem. But because of a careless comment I made one day, I asked the worm queen, people say that if an earthworm is split in two they can still survive, so what if she split herself in two? Could she not then alternate work days with her other half?”

“She was moved by my words and on the spot, she cut herself open, creating

two separate beings.”

“Each one as identical as the other, like twin sisters, no, more like a clone technique. I watched as one being turned into two and could not tell who was the original.”

“Thankfully, they could distinguish between each other.”

“However, when the husband came back and saw two wives, he was utterly stupefied. Both women then asked him who he preferred.

“The husband was quite straightforward, not attempting to mask his words, directly stating that he liked both.”

“Then, the domestic dispute erupted, with their triangle creating a series of love-hate entanglements. Even to this day, they no longer work due to this.” Uncle Ba appeared to feel a great deal of remorse.

Lu Yang:

Damn, they’re insane.

“So, what exactly should I do?” After sighing, Lu Yang quickly composed himself, gradually adapting to the mentality of a cultivator.

These are all minor matters.

Uncle Ba stroked his white beard and smiled, “You go in and someone will guide you. But let me remind you, you are only allowed in the medicinal garden to loosen the soil. If dare you steal any herbs, Discipline Peak will hold you accountable!”

Discipline Peak, the mountain range administered by the Grand Elder. It’s renowned for its strict impartiality and does not make exceptions.

Lu Yang thanked Uncle Ba and entered the medicinal garden.

Upon entering, Lu Yang smelled an aroma that was several tens of times stronger than before.

The smell could not possibly vary so much in such a short distance.

Lu Yang immediately realized that the medicinal garden was under the protection of not just Uncle Ba, but also a full array method to keep outsiders from entering.

This array method locked the aura of the medicinal garden, and due of the profuse scent of the herbs, leakage could not be completely avoided.

Even this faint scent could greatly enhance a mortal’s lifespan, so one can only imagine the extraordinary benefits of the aroma within the medicinal garden!

Apart from the herbal scent, the most significant thing was the dense spiritual energy. Lu Yang suspected that the dew on the surface of the medicinal leaves was not water but droplets of condensed spiritual energy, each a match for a lower quality spirit stone!

Wherever Lu Yang looked, a variety of flowers and herbs that he had never seen or heard of spread out before him.

Plants organized neatly by species in separate zones, created a dazzling assortment that left Lu Yang bewildered.

He didn’t dare take a step, fearing he might step on a valuable plant.

Lu Yang bent down and examined several medicinal plants. Finally, he found one he was familiar with. It was a plant with three leaves, its veins clear, looking as if it had been made from condensed ice, releasing a slight chill.

“ice Soul Grass, I remember this herb helps in the cultivation of ice-related magical skills by increasing the speed of spiritual energy absorption.

Each stalk of Ice Soul Grass stood a great distance from the next, likely to prevent the chill each emitted from freezing everything in its vicinity. Lu Yang remembered his encounter with a puppet. The puppet had thoroughly beaten him and then applied Ice Soul Grass on his injuries. The memory was still fresh in his mind.

He didn’t recognize any other plants.

“Oi, who are you?” A not-so-polite voice came, and Lu Yang reflexively turned

his head but couldn’t see anyone.

“Who’s speaking?”

“Oi, look down!” the voice reminded him.

Lu Yang looked down to see a ginseng baby, three inches tall, hopping around his feet. It seemed dissatisfied that Lu Yang had taken too long to notice, whilst having to raise its voice to get its attention.

“You’re so stupid, why didn’t you look down? Why do I even have to remind you!”

The ginseng baby had sturdy little legs and was chubby, running around Lu Yang. Its two roots acted as arms swinging up and down as it ran. Its body was covered in patterns, forming a face which was as expressive as a human’s.

“Young man, who are you?” The ginseng baby asked with an old man’s attitude.

A ginseng of refined spirit is no doubt extremely old. Lu Yang, therefore, didn’t dare to be rude and respectfully replied “Your humble servant Lu Yang at your service, my duty is to loosen the soil in the medicinal garden.”

” So you’re just here for soil-loosening.” The ginseng baby breathed a sigh of relief, fearing it was another hateful human come to pick them.

All the herbs in the garden were its proteges.

“Since you’re approved by Little Ba, it seems I have not seen a stranger besides Little Ba and that female demon for quite a few days.”

For the ginseng baby, even the elderly Uncle Ba was just a young junior.

What’s the use of high cultivation level? The herbs win in terms of longevity.

It looked down on everyone in the Seek Dao Sect.

Lu Yang knew that the medicinal garden had rules. The herbs in the garden were very precious. If anyone wanted to take a herb, they had to ask the guard to pick it. No one but the guard is allowed to enter the garden.

If Lu Yang didn’t have this task, he wouldn’t be able to enter the garden.

Lu Yang didn’t know who the female demon the ginseng baby mentioned was. Perhaps it was another gardener?

The ginseng baby put its roots on its hip, complaining “Why are you humans so tall?”

Lu Yang too felt it was tiring to speak to someone while bending down, so he promptly used the magic skill “Inch,” shrinking to the same three-inch height as the ginseng baby.

“Hey, this youngster has the makings of a good cultivator, far better than Little Ba.” The ginseng baby was first surprised and then pleased. It was rare to see a human who was the same height as it, since it always felt displeased having to look up at humans.

The ginseng baby had no neck, its head and body were a single unit.

“From now on in this garden, you can hang around with me!” The ginseng baby said magnanimously, patting Lu Yang’s shoulder with its roots as a mark of acceptance.

“I have some chores to do. You can follow me. After I’m done, I will introduce you to the other King Herbs.”

Herbs that have become spirits are called King Herbs, the most valuable herbs.

Even a very powerful Sect might not have one. If a King Herb is acquired, it could be enshrined like an ancestor.

Listening to the ginseng baby, it seems that the medicinal garden also contains many others like it.

Lu Yang secretly marveled at how terrifying the foundation of the Seek Dao Sect

was.
