Vol. 11 - Chapter 608 - Spirit Stone Hunt (2)
'...It's alright. Ready when you want.'
(Did something happen?)
'I just feel like expecting 10000 each day might be a bit too much.'
Merus' voice sounded somewhat annoyed. He did not need to sleep or eat, and would never get tired, so Allen had him make Heaven's Blessings whenever he had a day off. He also could make Golden Eggs, but it seemed like the limit of items he could make in a day was 10000, for which Wraith A, B and C summons, as well as Merle's group would help. And that was why Merle's group would not be helping with hunting ghosts now, they had to get enough rest after doing runs of the Earth Labyrinth for 24 hours.
(We're pretty busy here actually, nevermind that, this takes more priority. Once you're ready teleport here.)
'Got it.'
Allen decided to listen to Merus' complaints for once, even though it bothered him giving up on that source of items. Merus used the Bird A's Awakened Skill [Homing Instinct] to bring 40000 wardens to Allen's location.
"So this will be our new hunting grounds." "I was told we'd be in an enormous fort though…" "There's only some outer walls here."
(How rude, though it's true.)
The 40000 dragonkin wardens sounded confused, as they could only see the large outer walls that were shaped like a square with 10 kilometer long sides. The 50 meter tall walls were not too big compared to those in the human realm. They were really long though, stretching far into the horizon.
"Abigayle, are you sure about your selection?"
"Yes, I prioritized mages, archers, and spearmen with long range Extra Skills. There's some who haven't completed their God's Trials though."
"That's alright. You'll be in charge of them."
(The true hunt for Spirit Stones won't start until they're all maxed out, but they can still help until that happens.)
"Alright."
Abigayle replied to Allen and turned to face the 40000 dragonkin, giving orders to the leaders and generals who led 100 and 1000 men. Once he explained they would be hunting more ghosts here, they quickly went silent. After an hour, the dragonkin split into 4 groups which began climbing on top of the walls.
"Master Allen, I've only been able to complete the outer walls, main living quarters and meeting hall so far."
"That's plenty enough. Try to build some bathrooms next to the living quarters though…"
Sophie had built the 10 kilometer long walls, and in the center of the square a large plaza, with a meeting building nearby. Then in each cardinal direction some living quarters for the soldiers. She would eventually build buildings for the important dragonkin to live in too.
"Understood."
Sophie quickly agreed to do as Allen told her.
"Also, sorry to add to your load, but also try to support the soldiers. Once that's done, we'll go build the second fort like I told you before."
Allen had planned on building 2 forts, with a decent distance between them. That would make the hunt for Spirit Stones more efficient.
"And what should I do?"
Cecile had been following Allen around the entire day.
"I'll go lure the ghosts, so you stay here and fight them with the dragonkin."
"Is it fine if I do that? I'll be taking away the dragonkin's job."
"It's important to see what they can do first. I also want their Levels to max out soon, and my summons will also be helping them clear the waves."
Cecile would end up destroying most of the ghosts herself, but Allen was alright with that. There were also Insect A and B summons spawning an army outside the walls since yesterday. Cecile went up the wall and waited, while Allen called one of his Insect A summons.
'Chitter chatter!'
The summon was 30 meters long, and made a loud noise with its jaws while flying above Allen. Allen placed a summon on the Insect A summon's head.
"It's your turn today, Pyonta!!"
'Gekogeko!!'
The Insect G summon looked happy on top of the Insect A summon's head.
"I'll go along the first time, once you know how it goes it'll just be the 2 of you."
'Geko!!'
Those 2 summons would be the key to obtain 100000000 Spirit Stones.
(Pyonta, I still remember how you helped me hunt an Albaheron for my family.)
It was the Insect G summon that lured an Albaheron for Allen to hunt, letting him Level Up. That brought Allen memories as he climbed on top of the Insect A summon and flew away. He went so far away that he could no longer be seen from the fort walls.
"Hmm, this place is swarming with ghosts. I guess it makes sense since they don't have wardens around here. Alright Pyonta, time to act."
They were 100 meters in the air and could see hundreds of ghosts on the ground below. The Insect A summons's flapping wings could be heard by some of them. Once Allen told that to the Insect G summon, it made a loud noise.
'Geko!!'
The Insect G summon was under Growth Level 9, raising its stats to 30000, and it used its Awakened Skill [Taunt], making its body shine with rainbow colors while it jumped up and down.
'Gyurooo!' 'Gyagyagya!' 'Gurooooo!!'
The ghosts in a radius of 10 kilometers all turned up to look at them with annoyance.
"Alright, Bee, they'll definitely chase after us now. Let them get a bit more wild and return to the fort."
'Chitter chatter!!'
The Insect G summon's Awakened Skill [Taunt] incited the ghosts to follow them.
(Good good, there's a lot of them following us. I'm the master baiter Kenpii! But hmm, I guess I can only taunt a max of 100000 ghosts.)
Back in his past life when he played as a paladin, he would use his tank stats to lure a lot of enemies into traps set by his party members. The number of ghosts was gradually increasing, but at a certain point it stopped growing. It was important to maximize the time the taunt was active for. As 100000 ghosts followed them while the Insect A summon turned back, Allen made sure the ghosts would not drop aggro.
'...It seems they've done it. Everyone get ready, a large group of ghosts is approaching.'
Merus passed on Allen's message to everyone on top of the walls. They were still 1 kilometer away, but they were visible from atop the walls.
"What? How many is he bringing?"
'Allen just said to not use Small Meteor, as it'll destroy the Spirit Stones.'
"I know."
Merus gave a warning to Cecile. Her Extra Skill [Small Meteor] and Merus' Awakened Skill [Judgement Thunder] were too powerful and would turn the ghosts to ashes. Allen's objective was to gather Spirit Stones, and he felt like he could gather 200000 just from these ghosts alone which made him drool endlessly. Mounted on the Insect A summon, Allen circled around the wall Sophie had built. Once the ghosts were about to cross the walls, Abigayle shouted loudly.
"Everyone, attack the ghosts!!"
"Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!"
As soon as Abigayle gave the order to attack, all the dragonkin got their weapons and magic ready. Since the ghosts were distracted by the Insect G summon with Allen, they were unable to react in time to the attacks from the dragonkin, and coupled with Cecile and the summons' attacks, they were all defeated in less than an hour.
"Phew, that was quite a lot of them."
Cecile looked down from the wall and saw all the ghosts vanishing as bubbles of light. There were 3 types of ghosts, former monsters, plants, and mineral ghosts.
[The types of ghosts] -Former monsters: Look like monsters or giants made of blue fire -Plants: Look like plants that move around -Minerals: Monsters made of iron, stone, or even precious minerals
Former monsters would vanish after being defeated, leaving behind Spirit Stones. Plants and minerals would leave their bodies behind as materials, with Spirit Stones hidden within.
"Ohh, we can gather a lot of materials from these." "Ohh, what's that shiny stuff over there!!"
The dragonkin were filled with avarice and excitement seeing all the rare materials left behind by the ghosts. Since the divine realm was above clouds, there were few sources of materials, making big piles like those left behind by the ghosts extremely rare.
"Should we go pick up the Spirit Stones now?"
Ignoring the dragonkin's reaction, Cecile asked Allen through Merus.
'No, not yet. The next wave is coming.'
Thump thump thump!!
Cecile looked at the horizon and saw a large group of ghosts approaching through the arid land. Allen had not participated in the fight, instead going to lure the next group of ghosts.
