Chapter 1216: Sacrificial Offering
Chapter 1216: Sacrificial Offering

Although Sheyan had made an impressive entrance, he dared not take such a fierce strike. He immediately dodged and let the wall behind him suffer in his stead!
A huge hole opened up behind Sheyan following a loud bang. A cool wind blew into the building. He could hear the bricks, furniture and other objects near his foot crashing down from the hole. After all, this was the seventh floor.
When Sheyan rushed to the door again, a large amount of red lights flashed within the dust and shot out like a torrential rain — they were bullets! These locust-like bullets left long trails of flame in their wake and would explode upon hitting the target. Sheyan was caught off guard and ended up taking a few rounds of the bullets. The impact forced him to take a few steps back. He was about to jump aside to dodge when he once again felt a familiar sensation around his feet!
Naturally, it was KD again. As if the concrete stairs had come to life, it extended upwards past his shoes and covered his shins. It then solidified, sticking to his feet tight. With a furious yell, Sheyan forcefully pulled out his right foot and stomped it heavily on the floor. The stairs sunk half a metre down from the strong force. If it hadn’t been for the steel reinforcement inside, it would probably have collapsed.
Sheyan even heard a sorrowful cry from the concrete that adhered to his feet. The scream was hoarse and weird, totally unlike the voice of a human. It was made by the Earthbound Spirit nurtured by KD, which had been badly damaged.
Despite Sheyan’s quick response, he was still constrained for nearly a second. He felt a great threat coming from the front. In that instant, he had two choices. He could either take the honorary dosage, or use the teleportation ability on his dark gold ring. Either option could solve the current crisis! But at that moment, a few thoughts flashed through his mind.
‘After I got close to this building, I’ve been attacked several times, all of which were very skillfully coordinated...’
‘That means there should be a really clever person among them who gives the orders, and he has accurately predicted most of my actions...’
‘The mastermind is a very cautious person. He’ll always leave as quickly as possible if he could not achieve his objective, so it shouldn’t be him. However, this person should be the one who takes charge of the battlefield in his stead.’
‘The enemy’s actions proved that the person who’s giving command is indeed a smart man, but there should only be one commander among them, because too many people giving orders isn’t necessarily a good thing!’
‘...How would I react if I were in the enemy’s position?’
All these thoughts flashed past in an instant. Sheyan’s eyes gleamed with a hint of ruthlessness. He chose to do nothing at all!
The next second, an incomparably dazzling column of light shot out from the dust and smoke. The light was extremely concentrated, and air surged around it. The column of light struck Sheyan’s chest. Light sprayed fiercely like the blinding sparks produced by welding, but a hundred times, a thousand times, a million times brighter! So bright that it could blind the eyes of mortals and destroy gods!
Such a magnificent power was already at the level of the main cannon on an interstellar spaceship. Merely the energy which escaped from the attack was enough to destroy the load-bearing structure of the building. The building shook for a while, then collapsed!
Smoke and dust rose and swirled like clouds, covering an area nearly a kilometre in diameter. The ordinary people screamed and ran around in chaos.
Within the dust, a fully-armed, bronze-coloured exoskeleton armour was burning.
Sheyan was not unfamiliar with the exoskeleton armour model. It was the expensive machine from Avatar – the Amplified Mobility Platform, or AMP suit for short. It was a type of single-operated medium-sized mobile exoskeleton.
But the AMP in front of Sheyan looked much more powerful and complex than the ordinary exoskeleton seen in Avatar! If the exoskeleton on planet Avatar looked like a muscular, sloppy old man pulling a rickshaw, then this exoskeleton could only be described as a fully-armed member of the special forces.
KD was an outstanding strategist. Under his suggestions, their party had discovered many hidden plots in the worlds they visited and obtained a lot of good stuff.
It must be noted that the power developing the planet Avatar was a large private consortium. The government would definitely make sure that the military weapons they obtained could not pose a threat to them. Hence, the weapons seen in the movie were actually 20 to 30 years behind the technology on Earth.
After entering the world of Avatar, KD’s party had surprisingly came up with a way to return to Earth on the Enterprise mothership. They arrived on Earth after more than three years of hibernation and managed to purchase this high-end exoskeleton!
This type of AMP could carry four people and was a lethal weapon that had already replaced tanks on Earth. It was far stronger than the AMPs on planet Avatar, be it in survivability or damage output!
KD also got his hands on another lethal weapon in the Starship Troopers world — the design drawing of a Yamato cannon! That’s right, the Yamato cannon, the cannon of the ultimate Terran unit in Starcraft, the Battlecruiser!
KD naturally tried to combine the two together. After a series of modifications, it became their party’s ultimate weapon, a weapon of terrifying power! However, the cost of each shot was astronomical, mainly because the Yamato cannon was originally meant to be mounted on a gigantic object such as the Battlecruiser. Although KD had reduced the cannon’s damage output, it was still quite incompatible with the AMP exoskeleton. It was like an 80-kilogram male Caucasian Sheepdog falling in love with a female Chihuahua which weighs a kilogram....It’s a tragedy whenever they’re in heat.
Sheyan’s momentum was too overwhelming, and his party’s mage even had the ability to sever dimensional connections. Gullit knew they only had one shot. If they blew this chance, all of them may very well die – this shot would decide their life and death. Therefore, Gullit had raised the power of the Yamato cannon to the maximum, something they had never done before!
The cost, of course, was unbelievably high. The AMP was now in a terrible condition. Several of its key parts were burning, alarms were blaring in the control cockpit, and the fire extinguishers kept spraying nitrogen. Not only that, the barrel of the Yamato cannon mounted on the shoulder of the AMP had also melted like a candle, turning into red-hot molten metal.
The energy display scale inside the cockpit had dropped into red. Electric sparks were leaping around on the dashboard – it looked as if it would explode at any moment. The three contestants inside also appeared extremely tired.
But this was to be expected. To use a Battlecruiser cannon on an AMP, the energy system would have to bear the brunt of the burden. Then, the aiming, simulation, calculation, balance modulation and launch timing control would all have to be carried out by linking the MP of the AMP crew together.
The three people inside could only exchange bitter smiles at the moment.
“Something’s wrong!” Pryzbilla suddenly exclaimed in a hoarse voice, “Why haven’t we received a notification of the kill?”
“It must be because he’s in a state of near death,” replied KD confidently. “Someone His Excellency is so wary of must have some lifesavers up his sleeve. In ten seconds, when the AMP’s energy is restored back to 25%, the vital signs radar will regain its function. We’ll search him out from under the wreckage and finish him. The equipment on him is extraordinary....”
But just as KD said that, the whole AMP suddenly trembled. The bullet-proof glass next to them, which was already full of cracks, shattered into millions of tiny crystals! A blackened arm reached in and grabbed Pryzbilla’s chest. The arm suddenly glowed with a dark green light and yanked Pryzbilla out with force.
Pryzbilla could not react in time. With one leg stuck on the window, he was bloodily torn apart! He let out a terrible scream. Soon after, a merciless fist hit him in the face...
A series of crisp cracking noises could be heard. Just by listening to the sound, one could imagine the way his head was crushed like an egg!
Pryzbilla...was dead!
The dust gradually settled, revealing a charred, shabby figure. By just standing there, the figure looked as if he was towering over the earth. The figure took out a cigar, lit it, took a deep puff, and threw it on Pryzbilla’s corpse.
Sheyan actually turned his back to KD and Gullit who were still in the AMP. He would definitely sacrifice them to Mogensha. This meant that he was already sure of their deaths.
Gullit’s breathing was loud. KD’s face was as pale as dust, his facial muscles twitching non-stop. He held onto his weapon tightly, trying to create an air of someone who would fight till the very end, but his occasional coughing and sneezing broke the atmosphere. Sheyan gazed at the cigar on the ground for a while, then sighed and turned around.
He stared at Gullit coldly and told him, “What a powerful plasma cannon. It almost killed me.”
Sheyan slowly raised his fist. Gullit instantly pulled out his gun and pulled the trigger in a frenzy. However, it was a feint; the one Sheyan was aiming for was KD! Sheyan did not expect to be able to fool KD with his actions, but he had deceived Gullit. If Gullit had immediately turned around and fled while Sheyan was attacking KD, it would have been a real hassle to chase after him.
