Chapter 344 I cant believe you are mine
Chapter 344 I can't believe you are mine
When Lexi dozed off, Ethan Lu glanced at her unmoving head before a gentle smile formed on the side of his lips. Gently, he placed his head on top of hers and tenderly left a soft kiss that made him get a whiff of the scent of her shampoo.
"I love you…" Under his breath, Ethan Lu whispered to the sleeping Lexi as he slowly closed his eyes. "I can't believe you are mine," he added as he slightly moved his head onto her.
Crazy. Every day, deep down, whenever he looked at her or felt her every touch, Ethan Lu always had this fear that maybe... just maybe, he was still dreaming— a long beautiful dream. He could not believe that this woman named Lexi Yang was his: his lover, partner, best friend, and later his fiancee.
As they journeyed to the place he wanted to propose to her, and Ethan Lu preserved his energy for the nerve-racking surprise he had prepared for her later, he could not help but reminisce on their history together.
Initially, Ethan Lu was raised to be the heir of his grandfather and take over with their family business. In their family, women were mere decorations and having a mother like Christina Lu, he wasn't really impressed with what women could offer. After all, he naturally thought that women are fragile beings whom he didn't want to invest in too many feelings with.
For him, having a woman on his side was good for entertainment where he could feast his eyes with and just like his first instinct, they are a good accessory. Therefore, whenever he met a woman who was more good looking, he instinctively changed his partner— the origins of his casanova days.
However, meeting Lexi for the first time, something within him changed… forever. After witnessing how she could be brave in her own way like backing away from the person whom she loved so dearly in the past and courageously letting Morris Liu go despite the fact that she was gravely hurting, Ethan Lu was in awe.
Afterward, Lexi continuously impressed him by admitting her wrongs and trying to correct her mistakes by being a matured person. She grew and kept on growing which made him feel ashamed of himself.
Lexi was a strong independent woman. He knew that she wouldn't need him even if he lent his helping hand in whatever she does. She didn't like him nor was she attracted to his dazzling charms. It's crazy how he had no effect or impact on her at first. No one had escaped his bewitching smile and hinting winks yet, she proved that there was still someone like her. Someone who seemed so hard to achieve and reach.
Therefore, upon embracing the feelings that grew on him for her, Ethan Lu stopped running from her inescapable web. He knew that deep down if he didn't squeeze himself in her life, she wouldn't reach out to him. Therefore, he followed what his heart desires: HER. Ethan Lu was grateful that he did. He was beyond relieved that he followed what his heart desires and disregard the reason that was stopping him. Because if not, he wouldn't be able to find his home… his safe haven, and how it feels to be loved back against all odds.
Being with Lexi, she made him be a better man. She brings the best out of his hopeless being that he deemed as unsavable. Lexi gave him courage, strength, and a reason to have a meaningful life. She painted his flashy yet fake colorful life with permanent inks with a smile as bright and heartwarming as the coming of springtime. Her tender touches and caring words were as smooth as the sable brushes.
With just that, she took him to a whole new world and saved him from the black and white colors of his past and future. She gave him something that he would look forward to every day he wakes up and he feels grateful that he exists.
Hence, putting a ring around her finger seemed like a small task for everything she had done for him. It was just the first task to give back all the love and kindness that she had given him.
All the chances she benevolently offered and the sacrifices for moving out from her parent's place to be with him and the freedom she should have without the Lu family.
It was just too much that he felt that no matter what he does, there was no way to repay her for everything. It was as if no matter how hard and deep he loves her, her love was still incomparable.
As Ethan Lu's body relaxed as he reminisced on the things that he loved about her— big and small— and everything to be thankful about, Lyrick Jiang's recovered voice was heard as the partition completely rolled down.
"Master, we've arrived."
Still, Ethan Lu didn't open his eyes as he only hummed a tune as a response. Since Lexi seemed she was tired, Ethan Lu wanted to let her rest first. Thus, guessing what his boss's desire was and seeing his goddess soundlessly sleeping on Ethan Lu's shoulder, Lyrick Jiang put up the partition again and let them have their 'babe' time first.
Since Lexi was still asleep and both his master's were still inside the car, Jarred Guo didn't dare to turn off the vehicle. Still, to get some fresh air and not to bother the two, both Ethan Lu's loyal subordinates hitched out from the ride.
"I wonder if Madam will say yes…?" Raising his gaze to the peaceful yet seemingly deserted restaurant that was located in a rural area not far away from the city, Jarred Guo heedlessly remarked which made Lyrick Jiang cast him a deadly glare.
"Are you doubting my goddess's feelings towards Master? Of course, she will say yes! No doubt!" Displeased by his colleague's thoughtless remarks, Lyrick Jiang grumbled in disgust. What Jarred Guo said, he perceived it as jinxing his master which he could not allow happening.
"Ay, you're spreading some bad vibes here," Jarred Guo could not help his brows but twitch with how Lyrick Jiang could overreact with such a simple slip of the tongue. "Whatever. Are you sure there's no last preparation needed to be done?" Diverting their subject, Jarred Guo smoothly succeeded as Lyrick Jiang seemed to recall something.
"Right! I'll be back." With that said note, Lyrick Jiang rushed towards the quiet restaurant like a bolt of lightning to check if everything and everyone was already there.
