Chapter 57 Reality (1)
The next day, when the girls woke up, it was around six in the morning, and they didn\'t find Jake anywhere. Since neither of them was a morning person, at first, they didn\'t care about it. However, after one or so, they started to get worried.
"Do you think something happened?" Louise asked, visibly nervously since her persecution complex started to kick in at full power.
"… No, he probably left to buy some things for breakfast… or some items for his dungeons where he intends to imprison us," Lana replied with a forced smile.
"Still talking about that…" Jake suddenly opened the door and said. "We are on the fourth floor… where in the hell I would have a dungeon here? Are you really that stupid?"
Those two sighed in relief, and then they frowned when they saw Jake wearing snickers and sweatpants. Since he was also covered in sweat, it was obvious that he want for a walk for the last two hours or so.
"You left your guest alone…" Lana said.
"I exercised going up, and down the stairs, so I always watched my door," Jake said. "Anyway, you two have some crazy bed hair…"
Lana and Louise quickly returned to the bedroom to fix their appearances. Somehow, even though that was their first night in Jake\'s apartment, they got too comfortable and acted like they were at home. That explained the bed hair and their pajamas.
"Someone isn\'t a morning person…" Jake shrugged.
Jake headed to the bathroom to take a hot bath and recover from his morning exercise routine, and after a while, he made some coffee, juice, and toast. Once again, he made all that while sighing. He wasn\'t used to it making that much food, after all.
"You really are a hardworking guy, Jake," Lana said while they were eating breakfast. "You can cook well, you like to clean, you look after your health even though you are young… if you could fix your personality, and you would become popular."
"… If you also could fix your personality and then learn some basics skills on your own, perhaps you could become a proper adult," Jake furrowed his eyebrows and then said it.
"What are you talking about? There is nothing wrong with my personality," Lana said. "I am already a perfectly decent human being."
"Sure… you certainly are the one who can decide that," Jake added.
"Anyway, do you guys want to go somewhere today? Like a cinema?" Lana asked.
"I am going to log in. Bye now," Jake said.
"Hey, it is Sunday… we have the whole summer vacation to play the game, you know," Lana said.
"I am sorry, Lana," Louise said apologetically. "I don\'t feel like going out…"
"I guess it can\'t be helped," Lana said and then showed an expression of disappointment.
After they logged in, the girls found Jake heading toward the crystal server. While they still felt a bit lazy, it seemed that Jake was already ready for some action.
"I want to challenge the boss of the Deadly Forest," Jake said. "If you want some potions, you should buy them."
Jake was really in a hurry as if he was itching for another difficult battle. As if the game itself knew that they were teleported to an area where they found many bees around them when they selected the mission.
"Oh? It seems we got lucky today…" Jake smirked.
The monsters began to dash toward them, and Jake did the same. Meanwhile, Louise looked around and created a FireWall between her, Lana, and the monsters. The creatures that ignored Jake were burned to a crisp after Lana used Odin\'s Blessing on Louise.
Jake ran around the battlefield, and splitting the bees in two like that was the greatest sport in the world. However, he calmed down after a while and looked in all directions. A couple of seconds later, he saw a group of eight bees flying toward them.
"It is in that direction," Jake said.
It was rare to find so many enemies flying toward them at the same time unless they were close to a dungeon. Thanks to that, the girls understood that they spawned near the center of the forest, and thus, finding the boss won\'t be that hard.
"Save your mana for the time being," Jake said and then dashed toward the enemies. "Things will only be harder from here onward."
The girls followed Jake as he slashed the monsters in two, and even before Jake could sheathe his sword, another group approached. Despite that, Jake only felt more eager to keep moving forward...
That kept repeating itself several times until half an hour later, Jake\'s party began to be attacked by numerous enemies from all sides… They were pretty close to the boss. There was no mistaking it.
"We should fight a bit more close to each other now until the fights become less frequent," Jake said. "Inform me beforehand if you feel like restoring your mana by using Meditation."
Lana and Louise nodded, and then Lana used Thor\'s Blessing and Hermes\' Blessing on Jake. Thanks to that, he felt comfortable on using his katana with a single hand and then using the Kite Shield in the other. With his weapon, he still could slice up the monsters in a single strike. However, he had to use Bash with his shield to obtain the same result.
Since Jake was killing so many bees, all the monsters that appeared flew toward him instead of the girls. That saved him a lot of trouble of running around and spending stamina while not swinging his sword. Still, thanks to that, Jake ended up being hit by the stings several times in a row. Each hit only made him lose about half points of health, but they also helped him sharpen his senses and fight even more fiercely than before.
