Chapter 96 Considerations (2)
In the end, the group decided to stick together and see what Clark\'s guild had in store for them. However, they only moved after spending the entire afternoon resting. At night, it would be hard to move, but it also would be hard for them to be located. Besides, with their current bodies, they were confident that they could cross the entire distance in a single night. While Lana and Louise didn\'t enhance their speed and stamina that much, they gained some improvements thanks to their classes.
"I hate the darkness of the night…" Lana protested as they were moving toward the mountain.
"There is nothing dangerous in this area, so you don\'t have to worry," Jake said. "Besides, that kind of fear is only psychological."
"I know that, but I can\'t help it," Lana said and then she grabbed Louise\'s arms. "You are fearless, Louise. When I grow up, I want to be like you."
"I think that is something silly to say when you are twenty," Louise forced a smile. "Besides, it isn\'t like I don\'t dislike darkness, but with you two here, I don\'t fear as much."
"I wish I could be that reliable…" Lana said and then dropped her shoulders.
"If you keep talking so loudly, the idea of moving at night will become essentially useless," Jake said.
"If you keep talking so loudly… okay, Mr. I am so edgy," Lana said while trying to mimic Jake\'s mannerism.
Jake sighed… Lana was already twenty and wanted to be a doctor, but she still didn\'t leave behind her teenage behavior. Nevertheless, around midnight Jake and his party arrived at the base of the mountain. It was pretty tall, like around four kilometers. So, Jake began to wonder would be faster to cross half of it or just move around and take the roundabout path?
"What do you guys think?" Jake asked.
"I don\'t think we have been found yet, so it doesn\'t matter if we don\'t reach the destination before morning," Louise replied. "After all, I doubt that they will be waiting for us so early, not to mention, they know that the newbies start in the east of this place, so we will surprise them by coming from South."
"Louise… how come you think so seriously about moving like that, are you a ninja or something?" Lana asked.
In the end, the group followed that idea, and while that made the girls exhausted, they didn\'t complain. Around seven in the morning, the group finally saw a few things on the other side of the mountain. They could sign of human activity like chopped trees and even some camps of herbs being guarded by some humans. Since they only had three colors, they looked really weird, but that wasn\'t the problem… the problem was they would have to expose their presence to people they didn\'t know before finding Clark\'s guild\'s base.
"What now?" Lana asked.
"We can\'t wait for a full day and look for the base at night, if anything we would be the ones looking suspicious by doing that," Jake replied. "We will look for their base and act like nothing is wrong, but keep your guard up, if something happens, we will fight and if things get dire, we will select a mission and escape."
"But we will have to return to that point eventually," Louise said. "We will cross that bridge in due time."
Lana wasn\'t worried, but Louise was. Still, she understood that after coming this far, they couldn\'t retreat. In the end, when they approached one of the camps, the guys who were watching the camps looked at them with curiosity. Still, they didn\'t seem particularly cautious or dangerous.
"Hello, do you know where I can find the nearest base of a guild?" Jake asked.
"There are some around here, who are you looking for?" The guard asked.
"The guild master Rick," Jake replied.
"Ah, him…" The guard frowned and then looked toward Lana and Louise. "If you head straight in that direction, you will pass by three camps, the fourth is his it is also the largest in this region."
"I see, thanks," Jake said. "By the way, there are many other camps in other regions?"
"Yes, but you shouldn\'t try to look for them unless you found the members of other guilds during missions and they invited you," The guard replied.
"I will keep that in mind," Jake said.
"Wow, Jake said thanks," Lana said after they moved away from those fields a little bit. "I am shocked."
Jake ignored Lana and began to think about that conversation. The guard seemed polite enough. Still, the fact that he looked at Louise and Lana when he talked about Rick made Jake frown. It was weird… Clark\'s party had equally men and women, after all. Nevertheless, Jake decided not to share his thoughts with the girls.
After walking for one hour, the group found a walled village. Although there were no monsters around, they could see some armed guards making sure that only people they knew could enter the village. Naturally, that wasn\'t their destination, but it was good to see that one of the smallest camps had enough houses to keep more than one hundred humans.
"Something is wrong… I didn\'t think that so many humans achieved the necessary requirements in the tutorial," Lana said.
"Well, the rumors we heard about people disappearing where only from the people of our country," Louise explained. "And only a minority of people disappearing becomes known to the public."
"You think that thousands of people have achieved the same as us?" Lana frowned.
"It is a possibility," Louise said. "After all, we confirmed that we weren\'t the only ones who had those powerful innate skills. Those certainly could help many players to achieve the same…"
Jake agreed with Louise, but he still was shocked, just like Lana, about the high number of humans on that planet. He was also impressed that they managed to build something like that so soon… When he looked toward the center of the village, Jake even found a house made of earth blocks, and those certainly looked like they had been made with magic… that was more than fascinating.
