Chapter 368 Settling The Matter
"You should be more serious about this, albeit a failure. They successfully copied your strengthening method," Virigilius said. "If they turn into an army that has even a small fraction of the potential of your trait, then things will truly get difficult. Even if they improve their current level just a little, your defeat will be certain."
"You are well-informed… it seems that you have gathered a lot of data on the subject while I was fighting," Jake crossed his arms and then said. "What are your findings regarding the subject?"
"... The enemies are approaching, so it would be better if you focus on what is ahead of you," Virgilius said.
"Don\'t change the subject, Virgilius," Jake said. "I let you get away with a lot of things, but not with this!"
Before Jake could say anything else, those guys that left the cave dashed toward them. More of them were incoming, and that was a bit worrying since of their steps made the ground below them crack.
In any case, Jake had to put that aside for now when he saw Julian and Karina stepping forward to stop the enemies. Those three parties were outnumbered five to one, so he couldn\'t afford to stay back and watch.
"Louise, you take care of that dumbass," Jake said. "I don\'t care how. Just focus on him."
"..." Louise\'s expression darkened.
"Jake! That is too much, even for your standards!" Lana protested.
"It is fine, Lana," Louise said while smiling. "I got this."
It looked like Louise had been planning to settle the score with Justin as well. Thanks to the power of Myrna and her people, she also saw that he messed with her life two times. The stakes of that battle were a lot larger than their personal problems, but it seemed that fate wanted them to settle the score at that time.
Justin charged at Jake since he only wanted to fight him, but Jake quickly looked away. That pissed Justin so much, but he had to forget about that when some Thunder Arrows landed in front of him.
"That could have been dangerous, Louise," Justin said. "Can\'t you see that I am busy now? Can\'t you see that I don\'t have any more room in my life for you now?"
"Your ego is too big to let anything else have space in your life," Louise said. "You need to pay attention because I am your opponent, and it would be a pity if you were to regret it too late."
"All right, all right," Justin said and then sighed. "I will keep you company for a while, but I will make this quick."
"Big words for someone who is working for a monster only to obtain power without putting any effort into it," Louise said and then assumed a weird fighting stance by slightly rising her arms and then slightly moving them to the sides as well.
Justin also looked surprised. Louise was supposed to be a mage, but she sure was moving like she wanted to fight up close.
Justin just dashed at her with his swords, ready to cut her head, but when he swung them, he suddenly lost sight of Louise. Justin stopped, confused, and looked to the sides, only to find Louise behind him, still with that weird fighting pose.
It looked like she used some sort of high-speed movement skill, but Justin knew all the ones that people like Louise had access to. It wasn\'t Flash since she didn\'t move in a single line, and it wasn\'t Dash… Louise couldn\'t be fast enough to make that skill so effective.
Justin looked at Lana, and he saw her busy healing the wounded that were fighting his friends… it didn\'t seem like her buffs were affecting Louise that much. Besides, if she could be that fast in normal situations, she should have attacked him while he was thinking.
In the end, Justin decided to stop thinking and just dashed at Louise. Still, when he was ten meters away, he blinked, and in the next moment, he felt something hitting his stomach and paralyzing him. The power hadn\'t been that high, and yet he got paralyzed… not to mention, she disappeared the moment he blinked… it seemed that Louise was using something new, and she was trying to control it effectively.
Justin didn\'t waste much time thinking about what happened, but he had a fairly good idea, so he charged again. In the end, when he blinked, he also swung down his sword. Before he could even open his eyes, he saw that his sword caught something and then he saw Louise holding back his sword with her forearms.
"I am impressed to think that you have this much guts," Justin said while smirking. "However, your lack of experience makes things easy for me…"
"Is that so?" Louise asked. "You truly are stupid, aren\'t you? Why do you think that your sword didn\'t even cut a bit of my arms?"
Before Justin could find an answer to that question, Louise suddenly moved one arm from her block and made him frown. There was no way that she was that physically strong, and yet… before he could find an answer to that as well, Louise fired a Lightning bolt from her free hand. Upon impact, the attack caused an explosion and pushed him backward.
Still, even after being hit in the stomach, Justin didn\'t feel much aside from the pressure of the attack. His body had gotten strong enough to endure even the Power of lightning bolts…
"Ah… this strength, I want more," Justin said while smiling and showing an expression of ecstasy on his face. "Once we get rid of that kid, we will obtain his power, just like our master, and then make the human race rule the world."
That seemed way above what Hugo wanted, but Louise didn\'t have time to think about that. Someone that thirsty for power has to be defeated before he causes even more problems for the human race…
