Chapter 163 - SIL Vs FIL
"Have you seen her, son?" Xin Yichen spoke after some time. "Have you seen the wounds on her body?"
Long Jie hesitated. "Yeah, I have." He swallowed and then said in an intense voice. "I have seen those painful wounds on her body and I know how much time it will take before fading away."
Xin Yichen stared at him, his eyes shining with a foreign emotion. " Then why are you insisting on wounding her heart and soul too? Why are you willing to give her the wound that neither any medicine of time in the world can heal? He paused and then said in a weak voice, "Time is not always the great healer, son. Trust me, sometimes it works as salt on the wound."
Long Jie opened his mouth to say something but Xin Yichen didn\'t let him finish.
"No, hear me first. She will break if you tell her about the baby. She will never be able to forgive herself. She will keep on blaming herself until she takes her last breath."
Xin Yichen rubbed his hands on his face and looked up. "Can you see her dying every second in front of you? You can give her heartbeat back but will you be able to give her the reason to live?"
Long Jie still couldn\'t understand why Xin Yichen was not getting a simple point or what he was trying to prove here?
"Maybe, you don\'t know that our Zhenyi is strong. Stronger than we combined," said Long Jie, a hint of pride evident in his eyes.
"She is equally weak when it comes to her family," retorted Xin Yichen. " It\'s her own flesh and blood and you know quite well the loss of losing a part of you, don\'t you? He paused his patted Long Jie\'s shoulder and said. " Son, she didn\'t know about it then why do you have to tell her now?"
Long Jie who was kneeling on the floor stood up abruptly. He was not going to listen to him and why should he? He was asking him to do such a blizzard thing. He just couldn\'t do it and he shouldn\'t either.
"You are asking too much from me. I am a very selfish man and I am not ashamed to admit that I have fears too like every normal man," said Lomg Jie sharply. Xin Yichen realized that there was nothing he could do to change his mind, but he has to. Long Jie glanced at him and said, "I can\'t lie to her. She is my wife and the mother of our dead child. " He paused and his eyes proof of his pain. "I will lose her and I can\'t bear it. Have mercy on me, please. I lost my unborn child a day ago and my wife is still in a vegetative state. I don\'t know when she will wake up. I am ready to trade anything for her and I actually did. She will never forgive us for this great lie. It\'s equal to betraying her and we of all the people know how Zhenyi takes betrayals."
Truly, Zhenyi wouldn\'t forgive them when she would get to know about this great betrayal.
"Well… I beg to differ " Xin Yichen directly refused to agree with him. "What are you worried about? She will leave you? God…." It was his selfishness and he very well admitted it too. Xin Yichen closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and then said in a soft voice while glancing at him. " Son, fathom what would be the outcome when you will tell her the truth? Would you be able to stop her from losing herself? …She will go crazy. And I mean it literally when I say…crazy."
Long Jie was about to say something but Ming Jia strolled towards them furiously.
"You two," She said and pointed her fingers in their direction. "I can hear your voices in the room next to this. And why on earth are you two arguing? What\'s the matter?"
Xin Yichen pressed his lips in a thin line and Long Jie just shrugged his shoulders as if to ask him.
"Will you tell me now?" asked Ming Jia.
"I apologize for disturbing you but we were just conversing over a matter," Long Jie politely said. She was Zhenyi\'s Godmother and so he had to respect her.
"Really?" She narrowed her eyes at both of them. She was not buying it. They were not talking too loudly but she could sense that the conversation between the two was getting heated.
Xin Yichen didn\'t reply to her. He crossed his arms over his chest and walked towards the window. He was looking out of it for no reason. He was not in the mood to talk any further.
"Brother Chen and Long Jie, I don\'t know what\'s going on between two of you and neither I have any wish to intervene between the two of you, but remember one thing, whatever is acting as a bone of contention between the two of you, please solve it before leaving the room. I don\'t want Zhenyi to wake and find her husband and father in discord that will further affect her health."
Long Jie nodded. "I get it."
"Brother Chen?" Ming Jia asked.
"Hmm?" Xin Yichen turned towards them and raised his brow.
"Do you agree with me?"
"I will once Long Jie agrees with me," came the reply.
Long Jie let out a loud sigh. "You know that\'s very difficult."
"But it\'s not impossible," Xin Yichen retorted.
"She will never forgive us."
"She won\'t know. Stop worrying about what will happen tomorrow."
"Stop." Ming Jia came between the two to act as a referee.
"What are you both talking about?" She asked them.
"Jia, do you think it\'s wrong of me to hide Zhenyi\'s miscarriage from her? Do you think I\'m betraying my daughter by keeping such a matter from her?" Xin Yichen asked her and walked ahead.
After hearing Xin Yichen\'s question, Ming Jia froze on the spot. She didn\'t know why they were arguing earlier, but now that she got to know… No wonder they were arguing. A dangerous situation they were stuck in. She glanced at Long Jie, he was also looking at her earnestly.
"You want to hide the truth from Zhenyi?" Ming Jia managed to utter.
"Yeah!" Xin Yichen nodded.
"Also…I believe that it will be for her wellbeing. I don\'t want to see her anymore in pain than she already is."
Ming Jie had not way to answer his question. She knew where he was coming from. Zhenyi\'s history with accidents and losses was very complicated and if she was told that she lost another one, certainly she wouldn\'t take it easy.
"Huh!"
She turned to Long Jie and studied his expressions for a moment before speaking," And I assume you don\'t want brother Chen to hide or lie from her?"
"Of course." Long Jie nodded.
"What\'s your reason for not hiding it from her?" Ming Jia asked him.
"She won\'t forgive any of us if we dared to hide such a matter from the. You know her, Aunty, how she is. It\'s not our call to make. We can\'t decide anything on her behalf," answered Long Jie. "Moreover, I don\'t want to taker away her right to grieve the baby. She needs to face it herself. It\'s her life and we can\'t take decisions on her behalf."
After hearing the two of them, Ming Jia held her head in her hands and sat on the sofa nearby. What a strange situation? She couldn\'t choose one side now because it was such a grave matter and surely she couldn\'t let these two do what they thought was right for Zhenyi. What they thought was right for Zhenyi and What actually was right for Zhenyi were the two different things, and now they had to understand it, but who could make them understand it?
Surely not her.
"Maa!" A sleepy figure entered the room, rubbing his eyes as if he was still a five years old kid.
"Oops! It seemed I infiltrated the family meeting," Sam said as his gaze fell on the scene. He turned to his mom and said," You were supposed to wake me up an hour ago, do you forget I have to leave today?"
An idea popped into Ming Jia\'s mind.
\'Ryuu! Yes, Ryuu!\'
He would be the better judge of the situation because he never let his emotions judge the situation. He always knew what to do in dire situations.
"Ah, I\'m sorry, baby," Ming Jia said with a smile.
Sam didn\'t know why but her creepy smile send shivers down his spine.
