Chapter 49 Trap

But unfortunately, the orc's joy was short lived. Still basking in the euphoric bliss of his counter strategy that seemed to working, the chief orc didn't know that he was about to suffer a great downfall- literally.

Having stepped into a different lane running parallel to Xzavier, the chief orc's eyes skipped over a very minor and yet significant variable. Up ahead, just about ten meters ahead stood a barricade that was negligible in height. It wasn't enough to completely impede the giant orc's violent charge, but it was definitely annoying enough to cause him to stumble.

With his eyes up ahead, fixated on Xzavier. And with his mind wrapped totally and dwelling on sick vengeful fantasies, the chief orc failed to sight the obstacle. He ran into it with full speed, crashing his already stubbed toes and blasted feet into the elevated piece of rock that was firmly rooted in the ground. The chief orc roared in pain as he tripped hard on what felt like several pounds of solid granite rock. The unfortunate chief orc took a dive and came crashing down on the earth with a violent thud, completely plastering all vegetation beneath him into one flat plain of levelled grass and shrubs.

Like an astute opportunist that he was, Xzavier seized the moment and acted accordingly and sprang into action. He did a full one hundred and Eighty degrees on his motorcycle and spun in the direction of the fallen orc. The orc had been immobilized, but Xzavier knew that he wouldn't stay that way for long. So, he pressed the full throttle of the motorcycle to its full speed and raced towards the sprawled body of the fallen orc. Above the aggressive hum of his roaring engine, Xzavier started to yell:

"Kadin!! Kadin!! Kadiiiiiiiiinnn!!!!!"

Despite the suddenness of his fall, the chief orc recovered from his daze with a terrifying quickness. By the time Xzavier realized that the orc was already stirring from its temporary lapse, he was already within his range. Sensing this to be another one of Xzavier's legendary traps, the enraged chief orc swung his massive arms to grab Xzavier and squash him completely. He was already tingling with the anticipation of finally crushing this stubborn human.

But that anticipation soon turned to agitation. Much to his horror, the orc discovered that he couldn't move his arms! Frantic, aware of the dangerous position that he was in, the orc felt like a fish that had been trapped in a net by greedy and hungry fishermen. This feeling of helplessness was a strange feeling for someone like the chief orc..

In that moment, the chief orc's hands felt like dead weight. It was almost like some unseen force was actively holding them to the ground. Pinning them down, desecrating his will. No matter how he struggled, he couldn't seem to move.

By this time, it was clear to Xzavier that Kadin had a hand in the big orc's hand issue. Xzavier's eyes hadn't left the orc the entire time, and yet Kadin had somehow managed to pull this off. He knew then that Kadin must have had done this disturbing deed secretly. Xzavier made up his mind not to dwell on something as insignificant as that. Right now, he had bigger fish to fry.

With the enemy now subdued, Xzavier knew that there was no better time to strike than now. In the heat of the moment, filled with a fresh surge of energy, accelerated towards the gigantic orc whose place was now temporarily in the dust.

Unable to move, the orc leader seethed with contemptuous rage beneath Xzavier's motorcycle. Once again, he had fallen prey to the craftiness of Xzavier! His hatred boiled within him like a bubbling mass of toxic gas. More than ever, he wanted Xzavier dead. The chief orc had been subject to his ridicule and puny tricks long enough. His resolve to obliterate Xzavier has trippled, making him more dangerous and more determined.

But alas, in that very moment, there was nothing he could really do to stop Xzavier's creeping. So, unable to move, unable to stop his assailant from dragging his metal contraption all over his body, the chief orc remained helplessly static, waiting for whatever would come next.

As Xzavier approached the back of the orc's head, he brought out his military grade pistol and aimed it at the back of the orc's large head.

Two bullets was customary for close range assassination. But Xzavier was not willing to take any chances. The first shot came, whistling out of the silencer with a tiny amount of smoke following in its wake. The second, third, fourth up till the tenth came in quick succession. Xzavier ended up emptying an entire clip of bullets into the back of the orc's skull! If there had been more bullets, Xzavier probably would have spent them all on the vicious orc who had troubled him greatly.

Though he had planted ten bullets into the back of the chief orc's head, deep down Xzavier still wasn't satisfied. Something bothered him about the sound the bullets made as they made contact with the back of the orc's head. It almost sounded as though they were hitting a metal instead of flesh and bone.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

That was the sound. Repeating in a cycle, over and over again even until the last bullet.

This disturbed Xzavier. He was a bit rattled.

"What sort of monster is this? Even his skull sounds like a metal plate!"

But logic dictated that the orc was finished since the deed was already done. No one could survive ten bullets to the back of the head at close range, not even the notorious chief orc. So, Xzavier consoled himself with this fact. Xzavier took it upon himself to declare the orc deceased. It was far more convenient to believe that that to believe that it could somehow survive ten shots to the head at close range.

There was nothing worse than hearing the dead speak, or in this case: laugh. Xzavier would remember this for the rest of his lifetime.

It turned out that Xzavier's victory didn't last for long. His blood ran cold when the cold hoarse laughter of the orc rose above the din of the otherwise quiet night. Xzavier watched with horror as the not so deceased orc stirred beneath him, as if Xzavier's gunshots to his head had been nothing but a slap on the wrist.

The horrendously cold laughter of the chief orc rocked his entire being. As he laughed, Xzavier gradually began to feel a foreboding sense of doom. Sure enough, the mysterious bond that had kept the chief orc's hands bound started to weaken. Xzavier knew that it was time to get off the orc!

The orc on the other hand was determined not to let Xzavier go. Almost as if he sensed Xzavier trying to get away, he swung his large hand in a bid to swath Xzavier like an annoying fly. .

But Xzavier was more than adept at enacting evasive maneuvers. He tilted his motorcycle, almost parallel to the ground and in a brilliant display of thrilling escape, he furiously drove his heavy duty armor motorcycle over the head of the orc on his way down, giving him a haphazard haircut with his strong rubber tires, slipping through the fingers of the chief orc who wanted him dead by all means. The orc roared like a injured wild bull.

Xzavier on the other hand barely managed to escape getting squashed like an annoying bug, he touched down on the earth with a graceful thud. Having dragged his motorcycle all over the uneven back of the orc for a full minute, Xzavier was grateful for the feel of the earth underneath him again. He drove up a few meters before swerving in the direction of the not so deceased orc to inspect what had happened.

The full beam of light from Xzavier's motorcycle was augmented by the moonlight overhead. All of these sources of light combined together to provide Xzavier with the illumination he needed to see the reason why his bullets hadn't landed.
