The Psijic monk left off with more questions than answers and finally left Jon who satisfied his curiosity about the Psijic Order to some extent.
Now that his fun was over, Jon returned to his day-to-day work.
He started to feel the of involving more plotting and scheming rather than good old ass whooping. If he wants to be rich and stay that way, he has to keep the cogs running and his Empire expanding. In fact, some would argue that Jon has become busier than the Emperor of Cyrodiil himself when it comes to management duties.
As he sat in his office with a stream of employees coming and going, an idea clicked into his mind. He immediately formed his fingers into a cross hand seal and spoke.
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu."
Jon acted out as the technique should be, but not a single shadow clone appeared around him.
"Meow!" Nefertiti reacted as she sat on his desk, "In cat, this means you suck."
"Of course I know what it means." Jon replied with an obvious face, "I just need the formula to make this spell work."
"I can make Shadow Clones." Nefertiti said casually.
"Can you make Shadow Clones that can calculate complex equations and do paperwork?" He asked.
"No, the ones I can make can shred complex equations and paper apart." She replied.
"You’re becoming more mean lately." Jon sighed as he tried to pat her.
"Hands off, Hooman." She glared at him, "I just licked myself."
"Sigh!" Jon retracted his hand and returned to his work.
"Boss." Sif the secretary entered the room looking for him.
"New documents? Add them to the pile over there." Jon said.
"No, sir. A guest is asking to see you. A Breton lady calling herself Karen. She said that she can directly speak to the manager." Sef said.
Jon’s face went pale in a second.
"My moment has come." Jon said and displayed his hostility, "Let her in."
Sif seemed to have read Jon’s behavior and nonchalantly walked out pointing for the woman outside to go in.
"So..." Jon said as he stood up, "We finally meet, Karen."
His dominating hostility was indeed terrifying but the being in front of him is nothing less than a Karen. Some would argue that she is one of the most powerful Karens in the history of video games.
"Master Jon, there is no need to call me with that alias when we are together." The Karen, known as Delphine, replied as she removed her hood.
"Oh! But it’s more than just an alias. It’s a title. You may not have the Karen hair but you are a Karen to the core." Jon replied.
The asset known as Delphine, codename Karen, is one of the last known active ex-Blade agents and one of the two annoying Blades that operate under Jon’s supervision.
"I just came to make a report and I shall go on my way." Delphine pointed towards the paperwork in her hand and backed off.
Jon extended his hand to receive the report and started reading.
"So, you still went to the Thalmor party. It is a useless event." Jon said.
"Indeed. Some of the Dare Agents helped in the infiltration and we recovered a few documents which indicate that the Thalmor were fueling the Civil War. They received some news on the existence of Esbern but thanks to your early warning, his life is no longer in danger." She said.
"I know." Jon replied contemplating the massive waste of time and paper in his hand.
"Also, Esbern and I have found the location of the secret Sky Haven temple." Delphine said.
"Oh!"
It was then when Jon finally made a proper expression.
Sky Haven Temple.
This temple in the Reach Hold of Skyrim is a place where Jon has to visit in order to uncover the Alduin Wall, the prophecy which holds important significance to the Fate of Alduin and the Dragonborn.
Jon tried to go to that place on his own but there are two problems. The Reach hold is pretty vast and Jon dislikes it the most after the suffering he had to go through three years ago at the hands of the Forsworn.
"Alright." Jon returned the report to Delphine, "You are free to assemble a team and prepare for the journey to the Reach. The Portal Hub at the basement of the tower has a portal that will drop you into the city of Markarth immediately. I will accompany you after I finish up with the project in Blackreach."
Delphine hesitated a bit.
"Sadly, this will be a problem. I have already asked some men to scout the place for any possible leads on the Temple and... I think we ran into the Dragon Cult."
Jon narrowed his eyes.
Another deviation from the game story.
"The Dragon Cult appeared in the vicinity of Sky Haven temple?" Jon asked.
"Yes." Delphine replied, "At first, I thought they were Reachmen but now I am positive they are Dragon Cult since a Dragon was seen flying over the area and they seemed peaceful with it."
"Reachmen Dragon Cultists?" Jon asked.
"Probably."
That’s not just a change from the game story, this is a whole new change of heart for the Reachmen, followers of the Dark Wizardry and the Ancient Traditions.
"Three years ago, I broke the hearts of the Reachmen and drove them to the mountains after I performed the Blood Eagle execution on their Leader Alaric and killed their King Madanach." Jon said and walked to the window of his office overlooking the snowy city.
"The entirety of Skyrim heard your roars that day. If there were any signs of a Dragonborn, I should have anticipated it that day." Delphine said, trying to suck up to Jon.
"Sadly, Karen, you’re not that smart. Pffft! I mean Thalmor reviving the Dragons. They can’t even revive a goddamn fly." Jon mocked her openly.
Yet somewhere in his heart, he was uncomfortable.
"Go to where the Dragonstone is kept, find out how many Dragon Burials existed in Markarth, and prepare a full campaign." Jon said, "I’ll notify the Jarl of Markarth that the Dragonborn and a band of Dare Troopers are visiting to subjugate a Dragon."
"So... what is the aim of the Dragon and their Cult?" Delphine asked.
"I don’t know." Jon replied, "But when I don’t know, I always assume the worst possible scenario. What we want from Sky Haven temple is its location as an invincible stronghold and the Alduin Wall within. If the Dragon Cult has information on that, they will attempt to stop us with all that they have by either destroying the Alduin Wall or blocking the path to it. It can also be a trap, who knows."
"Indeed." Delphine nodded and bowed to Jon, "If you excuse me, Dragonborn, I shall return to my duties."
"Alright."
Jon watched her leave and his mood became very serious.
The Dragon Cult is moving very elusively and carefully to the point where Jon is hardly able to catch one Dragon on land.
They do a small series of attacks in places far off Winterhold and when he gets a word of it, they vanish.
"Nefertiti, we’re heading out." Jon said as he turned away to leave then called for the secretary, "Sif."
"Yes, Boss."
"Distribute these documents between Alina and my old man. Tell my father to be useful." Jon said as he carried Nefertiti.
"He told me to tell you that once you have work that you’re about to throw his way, he is already back in Eastmarch." Sef said.
"Just tell him where I hide an Ash Fire Mead keg in the office then give him a bottle every time he finishes a pile."
Between Jon and Jonrad, it was always a battle on who would outsmart the other and it is a game that never ends.
Jon immediately walked out of his office and headed to the basement of the Dare Tower in order to use the secret portals down there.
"Hooman, where are we going?" Nefertiti asked.
"Whiterun." Jon replied, "We’ll visit Wulfur over there and tell him that I’m in need of some equipment."
Jon had a bad vibe about the whole situation and right now, he needs to acquire resources and materials enough to thwart all that his enemies are planning.
And he just knows where the best stuff is.
